
Attending the event were Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Hai Ba Trung District Tran Quyet Thang; Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Pham Xuan Tai, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper Mai Thi Kim Thoa and nearly 400 athletes representing 50 junior high schools, high schools, and labor and armed forces in the district participating in the competition.


Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of Hai Ba Trung District People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Hien said that the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace is a traditional sports playground for the workforce, civil servants, employees, armed forces, students of the capital in general and Hai Ba Trung district in particular. Over the past 50 years, the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace has continuously grown in scale and quality, becoming a place for cultural and spiritual exchange and a place for many generations of athletes from all walks of life to compete. Through that, many talents have been discovered to nurture and contribute to the sports sector of Hai Ba Trung district in particular and the sports sector of the capital in general. Organizing the annual run is a practical action to contribute to the development of the movement of the whole people to exercise, practice sports, and respond to the campaign "The whole people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien affirmed that in the past time, the affiliated units have deployed universal standard running inspections. Up to now, 100% of the units representing ward blocks, students, union members, youth, cadres, workers, civil servants, organizations, enterprises, armed forces, and the masses in the district have completed universal standard running inspections, exceeding the set targets.


In this year's district-level finals, Hai Ba Trung District has selected nearly 400 athletes to compete in the following categories: Middle School; High School; University - College; Civil Servants; Wards, to select the best athletes to compete in the city-level finals taking place on September 28.


As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded First Prizes in the following categories to the following individuals:
Secondary school: Tran Thien Nhan (male, Trung Nhi Secondary school), Mai Khanh Chi (female, Ngo Quyen Secondary school); high school: Nguyen Van Minh Hieu (male, Thang Long High school), Ngo Linh Nga (female, Thang Long High school); university and college: Nguyen Duy Dat (male, University of Science and Technology), Nguyen Thi Hong Thai (female, University of Science and Technology); civil servant: Dinh Xuan Tung (male, Hanoi KCC Company), Vu Thi Ngoc (female, Hanoi KCC Company); ward: Nguyen Minh Tung (male, Nguyen Du ward), Do Thi Thuan (female, Vinh Tuy ward).

* Information from the steering committee of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace in Nam Tu Liem district on April 24 said that up to now, 5/10 wards of the district have organized grassroots running competitions, the most recent of which was the Phu Dien ward run, attracting nearly 500 athletes. In addition to the response run, athletes competed in the following categories: Middle school, 51 years old and above; 36-50 years old, 35 years old and below. The grassroots running competitions in Nam Tu Liem are expected to end at the end of May, attracting a total of nearly 5,000 participants.
