Nearly 1,000 people participate in the Ho Chi Minh City Mass Arts Festival

On the evening of April 8, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army held the opening ceremony of the 10th 2024 Mass Arts Festival for Armed Forces, Youth and Students, Region 1 - Ho Chi Minh City, at the Southern Military Theater.

This is one of the activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day, the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, and the 138th anniversary of International Labor Day.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Trinh Van Quyet - Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, head of the festival's steering committee; Mr. Pham Truong Son - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

927 officers and actors compete

With the theme "80 years of heroic song echoing forever", the mass art festival of armed forces, youth and students 10th time in 2024, region 1 - Ho Chi Minh City has 927 cadres and actors from 24 mass art troupes competing.

Specifically, the mass art troupes include: Military School of Military Region 7, Ho Chi Minh City Command/Military Region 7, Infantry Division 8/Military Region 9, Can Tho City Military Command/Military Region 9, Army Corps 4, Army Corps 16, Military Hospital 175, Army Academy, Army Officer School 2;

General Staff, Department of Motorcycles/General Department of Engineering, Naval Region 2, Division 367/Air Defense - Air Force, Corps 18, Artillery Corps, Engineering Officer School, General Department of Defense Industry, Government Cipher Committee;

People's Police Group 1, People's Police Group 2, Binh Duong Provincial Youth Union, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, University of Economics and Law/Ho Chi Minh City National University and University of Social Sciences and Humanities/Ho Chi Minh City National University.

The mass art festival is an opportunity to gather and demonstrate the strength of the mass cultural and artistic movement of the armed forces, youth and students.

The festival also creates conditions for cultural and artistic exchange, propaganda, and widespread dissemination to people and soldiers nationwide about the spirit of military-civilian solidarity, about the combined strength in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, and the cultural beauty of Vietnamese youth and students in the Ho Chi Minh era.

Spread the value of works of art

The mass art festival of armed forces, youth and students is held every five years.

Each mass art troupe develops an art program of at least 30 minutes and a maximum of 45 minutes. The program includes singing, dancing, music and theater performances.

The Ho Chi Minh City Command's mass art troupe performed the opening night with the theme "The land of steel blooms".

The jury includes Mr. Tong Van Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Propaganda and Training, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (head of the jury); musician Ho Trong Tuan - Vice President of the Hanoi Music Association (deputy head of the jury);

And the members: Ms. Dang My Hanh - Head of the Department of Culture and Arts, Propaganda Department; Director Nguyen Quoc Truong - Director of the Army Cheo Theater; Conductor Tran Vuong Thach - former Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera; Artist Ta Minh Tam - former Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music; Artist Ha The Dung - former Principal of the Ho Chi Minh City Dance School.

"I believe that with a high sense of responsibility and careful and elaborate preparation by the mass art troupes participating in the festival, the programs will create a deep impression, many works of high artistic value will spread, winning many emotions and love from audiences nationwide," Mr. Trinh Van Quyet - Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army - expected.

The 10th 2024 Mass Arts Festival of the Armed Forces, Youth and Students in Region 2 - Central and Central Highlands will take place from May 15 to 27 at the Cultural House of Corps 15 (Gia Lai province), with 22 participating groups.

The 10th 2024 Mass Arts Festival of the Armed Forces, Youth and Students in Region 3 - North, taking place from July 5 to 20, at the Army Theater (Hanoi), has 34 participating groups.
