Tonight, June 28, at the Liberation Square of Quang Tri town, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province coordinated with the Embassy of India in Vietnam to organize an event in response to the International Yoga Day 2024. Attending the event were First Secretary of the Embassy of India in Vietnam Rachna Srivastav; representatives of relevant departments, branches and units of Quang Tri province and nearly 1,000 trainers and students from Yoga clubs in and outside the province.

Born more than 5,000 years ago in India, Yoga is a practice that helps people improve their physical and mental health. Not only that, Yoga also contributes to strengthening the connection and solidarity between people, urging them to aim for noble goals and ideals in life.
From India, Yoga has developed strongly, reaching many countries in the world , including Vietnam. With the profound meaning and health value that Yoga brings, the United Nations General Assembly recognized and chose June 21 every year to become International Yoga Day.

Speaking at the event, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Vietnam Rachna Srivastav emphasized the role and importance of Yoga in human life. According to Ms. Rachna Srivastav, this year, the Indian Embassy in Vietnam organized the International Yoga Day event in 35 provinces and cities of Vietnam, including Quang Tri. The attention of the leaders of Quang Tri province and Yoga lovers made her very emotional.
“I am grateful to all of you for showing such spirit and unity today... I wish you all inner peace and harmony, good health and much happiness in your practice of Yoga,” said Rachna Srivastav.

According to Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Trieu Thuong, in recent times, Quang Tri province has received active cooperation and support from Indian friends in general and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam in particular. This is the second consecutive time that the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee has coordinated with the Indian Embassy in Vietnam to organize an event to celebrate International Yoga Day. With the theme "For yourself and society", this year's event becomes even more meaningful as it takes place on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India. The program is also the heart and feelings of yoga instructors and students towards the Festival for Peace.
“Through this event, we hope to create opportunities for people to better understand the meaning and benefits of practicing Yoga; encourage people to participate in outdoor activities, helping to improve their physical and mental health. We hope that the relationship between Quang Tri province and India will become increasingly close,” said Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Trieu Thuong.

At the program, delegates and Yoga lovers inside and outside the province participated in many meaningful activities including: Offering incense and flowers at Quang Tri Ancient Citadel; releasing flowers on Thach Han River; commemorating those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland... The program's organizers presented 10 gifts to disadvantaged policy families residing in Quang Tri town.
