According to the plan, Thu Thiem station covers an area of approximately 17 hectares, located between two major roads: Mai Chi Tho Boulevard and Luong Dinh Cua Street (An Phu Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City).

The Thu Thiem station is planned to serve three major railway lines: the North-South high-speed railway, the Thu Thiem-Long Thanh railway, and the second phase of metro line 2 (Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem). It will also be the final station of the North-South high-speed railway.
According to observations, the area designated for the Thu Thiem station has been carefully fenced off with corrugated iron sheets. The site is clean, mainly consisting of vacant land and swamps, ready for the project's implementation.
As can be seen, the location of Thu Thiem station is very advantageous. This station area is not only convenient in terms of transportation but also close to the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, one of the most modern and promising urban areas in Ho Chi Minh City.
Around Thu Thiem station, many large-scale projects such as high-rise apartment buildings and mixed-use urban complexes are being developed, contributing to the overall urban landscape of the area.
According to the plan, the Ministry of Transport will be primarily responsible for the detailed planning and implementation of related projects in this area, ensuring the feasibility and effectiveness of the projects.

The North-South high-speed railway line through Ho Chi Minh City will run parallel to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, passing through the An Phu interchange before entering Thu Thiem station.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has proposed to the Ministry of Transport to carefully study design options to optimize traffic connectivity at these important traffic junctions.
At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport also proposed that the Ministry of Transport focus on planning Thu Thiem station to become the central station for both the North-South high-speed railway and the Thu Thiem-Long Thanh line, ensuring synchronization with the second phase of metro line 2 (Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem).
Regarding the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line, the Ministry of Transport is currently studying it, contacting investors, and considering the possibility of implementing it as a PPP or ODA project.
The project, with a length of approximately 36km and an investment of around 3.4 billion USD, is expected to receive investment approval in 2024. The entire route is projected to be completed before 2030.
According to the plan, the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line will have its starting point at Thu Thiem station (An Phu ward, Thu Duc district, Ho Chi Minh City) and its end point at Long Thanh airport ( Dong Nai province).
The Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line is under study with 20 stations, including a station within Long Thanh Airport. The depot is located east of Long Thanh Airport, in Song Nhan commune (Cam My district, Dong Nai province).
The North-South high-speed railway project passes through 20 provinces, with its starting point at Ngoc Hoi station (Thanh Tri district, Hanoi ) and its end point at Thu Thiem station (Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh City).
According to the proposal from the Ministry of Transport, the North-South high-speed railway line will have the capacity to accommodate approximately 133.5 million passengers per year (for trains running directly from North to South).
Each year, this high-speed railway line will serve approximately 106.8 million passengers (for regional passenger trains); the North-South high-speed railway will transport approximately 21.5 million tons of goods per year (not including the 18.5 million tons per year capacity of the existing railway line).
