In a statement after the group's virtual summit, the G7 leaders said: "We will never recognise the so-called 'elections', past or future, organized by Russia in the territories of Ukraine, nor their results."
TASS quoted the chairwoman of the Zaporizhzhia regional election commission, Galina Katyushchenko, as saying that on February 25, early voting in the Russian presidential election began in this region.
Speaking to reporters, Ms. Katyushchenko announced: "People living near the front line and soldiers will be the first to cast their votes."
District election commission members will go door-to-door in areas adjacent to the conflict lines, carrying ballots and ballot boxes.
To vote, voters will need to present a Russian or Ukrainian passport, based on the decision of the regional election commission. Polling stations will officially open in the Zaporizhzhia region on March 17.
