The Vietnamese futsal team will face Kazakhstan futsal in a friendly match in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of April 13. This is a team currently ranked 7th in the world. Notably, the team from Central Asia has brought 6 players who participated in the quarterfinals of the Futsal World Cup 2024, including captain goalkeeper Leo Higuita.

Facing a very strong opponent, Coach Diego Giustozzi's students had a confident match. The match was exciting with continuous attacks from both sides. In the 13th minute, Kazakhstan sent goalkeeper Leo Higuita onto the field with the intention of playing power-play. Before the Brazilian goalkeeper could show his talent, he had to pick the ball out of the net. In the 14th minute, Abdirassi made a bad pass, and Tu Minh Quang scored from home with an accurate long-range shot.

The first half ended with a 1-0 advantage for Diego Giustozzi's players, but that was also pressure because Kazakhstan is a team full of spirit. The team from Europe increased the speed, continuously creating passes that made the Vietnamese players lose control.

In the 25th minute, Albert Akbalikov passed the ball like a “set-up”, but Nursultan’s shot hit the left post. Just a few seconds later, Ngoc Anh fouled the opponent in the penalty area, luckily Albert Akbalikov’s penalty kick hit the right post.

After minutes of playing defensively, coach Diego Giustozzi's players gradually regained control of the game. In the 29th minute, Thai Huy stole the ball from his opponent but was unable to beat goalkeeper Kanat. The Vietnamese players must have been very regretful when just 3 minutes later, they conceded a goal.

In the penalty area, Albert Akbalikov pressed the ball properly before passing it to the sideline for Karmennov Yerzhan to finish from a narrow angle, equalizing 1-1 for Kazakhstan.

With nearly 2 minutes left in the match, coach Diego Giustozzi made a bold decision to let his players play power-play. In the 39th minute, Da Hai had a classy dribble before passing back for Doan Phat to finish from a distance, raising the score to 2-1. The match had only 1 minute and 23 seconds left and the surprise continued when Kazakhstan played power-play. Ho Van Y scored with 51 seconds left and Cong Vien completed the 4-1 victory for Vietnam with only 8 seconds left.
