FPT Long Chau pioneers in bringing new solutions in treating people with hyperlipidemia

This is considered an important step forward in the treatment of dyslipidemia - a disease that progresses silently but is the main cause of myocardial infarction, stroke and many serious cardiovascular complications.

The new method using the active ingredient inclisiran, developed and produced by Novartis, has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 2021. This approach allows for effective and sustainable reduction of bad cholesterol (LDL-C), requiring users to inject it only twice a year. (1) As of August 2024, the product has been approved in nearly 100 countries, including the United States, the EU, Japan, and China. (2)

Dyslipidemia, also known as lipid metabolism disorder, is a condition in which the amount of fat in the blood increases, affecting the circulation of blood in the blood vessel wall, leading to atherosclerosis. When atherosclerotic plaque is formed, the lumen of the blood vessel will be narrowed, obstructing blood flow, or even blood will not circulate. According to medical experts, dyslipidemia is one of the main causes of stroke. Dyslipidemia has been shown to be related to 56% of coronary artery disease and 18% of stroke. (3)

According to the Global Burden of Disease 2019, high blood fat caused nearly 4.4 million deaths, equivalent to 7.78% of deaths worldwide. (4) The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) said that in Vietnam, an estimated 3.8 million people suffer from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, mainly caused by high blood fat (accounting for nearly 65%). (5) Given this situation, access to advanced treatment methods is urgent. A new generation solution with interference RNA (siRNA) technology helps patients achieve the goal of controlling blood fat, especially for patients recovering from myocardial infarction and stroke.
