Continuing its upward momentum, just minutes after opening, the VN-Index surged nearly 10 points to 1,290 points. Green dominated the trading screen, with most stocks experiencing significant gains.
The banking sector and blue-chip stocks were the main drivers of the market. Notably,FPT reached its 35th peak this year, its highest point in 18 years since listing, around 141,000 VND per share.
At the close of the morning trading session on October 10th, the VN-Index rose 7.84 points, or 0.61%, to 1,289.69 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 201 gainers and 135 losers.

As the afternoon session began, red quickly spread across the stock market, with many sectors also facing downward pressure.
At the close of trading on October 10th, the VN-Index rose 4.51 points, or 0.35%, to 1,286.36 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 163 gainers, 206 losers, and 69 stocks unchanged.
The HNX-Index fell 0.48 points to 231.29 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 62 gainers, 80 losers, and 76 stocks unchanged. The UPCoM-Index rose 0.12 points to 92.57 points.
Despite the overall market facing downward pressure, FPT shares continued to surge, even extending their gains. At the close of trading, FPT rose 6.3% to 141,700 VND per share, contributing nearly 2.3 points to the market. Trading volume was also high, with nearly 10 million units traded, almost three times the average of recent sessions.
Other technology stocks also performed well, such as CMG, ELC, ITD, TTN, SBD, MFS, CMT, and UNI. However, some stocks in the sector still closed in the red, including ST8, SAM, VTC, and SMT.
Red dominated the banking sector, although the major players still closed in the green, helping the entire sector climb 0.24%. On the positive side, CTG, BID, VCB, NAB, VPB, EVF, and BVB all rose by around 1%. Meanwhile, TPB, MSB, STB, TCB, VIB,SHB , MBB, and ACB declined.
Both the real estate and securities sectors reversed course and declined in the afternoon session. In the securities sector, apart from SSI which rose 0.92% to 27,550 VND/share, most other stocks fell. In the real estate sector, a few stocks saw slight gains such as NTL, NVL, TCH, TIG, IJC, VPI, HQC, and QCG, while most others declined.

The total value of matched orders in today's session reached VND 20,546 billion, a 9% increase compared to the previous day, of which the value of matched orders on the HoSE exchange reached VND 18,471 billion. In the VN30 group, liquidity reached VND 10,781 billion.
Foreign investors made net purchases worth 506 billion VND today, including disbursing 2,156 billion VND and selling 1,650 billion VND.
Stocks that experienced significant selling pressure included STB (126 billion VND), CTG (49 billion VND), VPB (49 billion VND), HCM (34 billion VND), MSB (33 billion VND), etc. Conversely, stocks that were mainly bought up included MSN (367 billion VND), FPT (312 billion VND), NTL (158 billion VND), TCB (135 billion VND), CMG (21 billion VND), etc.
