Fido Crew beat 20 competing teams to win the championship at the final night of the international breakdance competition Saigon Breaking Battle - Road to Paris 2024 held on the evening of May 11, organized by the French Institute in Ho Chi Minh City.
The final night of the international breakdance competition Saigon Breaking Battle - Road to Paris 2024 took place with great excitement at the Youth Cultural House (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City) on the evening of May 11. Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Bboy Anis from SNT Crew said that he came to Vietnam many years ago and now it can be seen that Vietnam's breakdancing level is developing very quickly. Anis shared a special story that Bboy Sailor.D (Thanh Dat) - a member of The Last Battle (1 of the 2 finalist teams) - had messaged him via Facebook 10 years ago. At that time, Sailor.D was about 15 years old and asked Anis to teach him some skills. Due to the geographical distance, Anis could not fulfill this request but the two still kept in touch. 10 years later, Sailor.D and Anis met on the stage. "He can now teach me back," Anis said. Sailor.D is also the runner-up of the Vietnam Street Dance competition in 2022. The French Bboy believes that Sailor.D's story is proof of how quickly breakdancing and the level of Vietnamese players have developed in recent times. Today, Vietnam has teams/individuals competing abroad and achieving many successes. Anis believes that the Saigon Breaking Battle - Road to Paris 2024 competition will continue, becoming a stepping stone for Vietnamese breakdancing to "swim out to the big ocean".
Heat from breakdancing
The competition attracted a large audience of all ages to watch and cheer enthusiastically. After about 4 hours of qualifying rounds, Fido Crew was the outstanding winning team. The prize for Fido Crew is a trip to the Battle UNITY competition taking place next year in Caen (Normandy, France), organized by SNT Crew - the official partner of the French Institute in Vietnam. Battle UNITY is an international breakdance festival gathering the best international contestants in Europe. The winning team from Vietnam will be supported with all expenses (travel, accommodation) by the French Institute in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition to the main competition, the final night also featured an exchange round between the two finalists from Vietnam, Fido Crew and The Last Battle, competing with SNT Crew (France) and 040 Finest (Germany). This special exchange round comes from the celebration of this year being the first year that the street sport of breakdancing has been included in the Olympic Games. Therefore, the French Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with SNT Crew (French Breakdance Association) and the Goethe Institute in Vietnam, organized the competition to promote cultural exchange between Europe and Vietnam.
