According to Livemint , reports show that more than 8,000 users had trouble accessing Facebook, while around 3,000 users had issues with Instagram. Also according to Downdetector, at one point, a total of nearly 20,000 people reported having trouble accessing Facebook, Instagram, and Meta's WhatsApp messaging service.
Facebook and Instagram outages occurred for about 2 hours on the morning of June 17, Vietnam time.
After an outage that affected many users, Meta announced that services on its social media apps, including Facebook and Instagram, had been successfully restored after more than two hours. The company also confirmed that the issue with Ads Manager — the advertising platform that allows brands to buy and deploy ads on Facebook — had also been resolved.
Downdetector records show that the number of outage reports has dropped below 500 as of 5:30 a.m. ET on June 17. Downdetector collects and consolidates status reports from a variety of sources, including error reports submitted by users on its platform, to track outages.
Last month, Instagram also suffered an outage. After recovering, Meta said the outage was caused by a technical issue that disrupted the service and left thousands of people without access. The company did not disclose how many users were affected, but according to data from Downdetector, more than 100,000 people in the US, 24,000 in Canada, and more than 56,000 in the UK reported the issue.
