No fancy stage, no fireworks, no grand celebration. At the age of 50, the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) chose a special way to celebrate, not ostentatiously but quietly. The entire budget that was supposed to be spent on the celebration was saved by EVNSPC and transformed into charity houses for the poor, along with a series of power projects that were completed early - as a deep gratitude to the past and a strong commitment to the future. Over the past half century, that journey has not only lit up the South but also lit up faith, humanity and the desire to rise in every home, every remote island, every difficult land.
From war wounds to the journey to light up remote islands
April 30, 1975 - a milestone of the nation was also the time when EVNSPC officially entered a new journey of service. When taking over the power system in the South, the technical staff had to face countless difficulties: the power grid was dilapidated, equipment was severely damaged, supplies were exhausted, and human resources were both lacking and unsynchronized. The image of electrical engineers "wearing camouflage, riding bicycles to connect wires and patch power lines in the ashes of war" became a symbol of the spirit of dedication of the Southern electricity industry in the first years after liberation.

Each transformer station was revived, each generator was restarted, each power line was pulled to residential areas, factories, cooperatives... A resilient yet arduous period, when EVNSPC not only brought material light but also conveyed the message of aspiration for revival, stability and future creation.
Not only stopping at overcoming the consequences of war, EVNSPC also soon started investing in building new large power plants such as Thac Mo, Tri An - hydroelectric projects of national stature - thereby establishing a solid power system for the entire region. In the early stages of the renovation, the Southern electricity sector became the "pioneer", the premise for the manufacturing, industrial and service sectors to develop remarkably.

Entering the 2000s, when the requirements for national development associated with ensuring energy security and international economic integration became increasingly higher, EVNSPC continued to affirm its pioneering position with breakthrough projects: the 110kV submarine cable line across the sea to Phu Quoc, the first 220kV overhead line to the island, the power supply system for the island districts of Hon Nghe, Lai Son, Hon Tre, Phu Quy, Con Dao...
Not only are these projects technological advances, they also have political and national defense significance – contributing to affirming sovereignty over the sea and islands, improving the quality of life of the people, developing the marine economy and stabilizing the lives of fishermen. They are also a testament to the determination to “develop wherever electricity goes”.
Up to now, EVNSPC has ensured electricity supply to more than 9.5 million customers in 21 southern provinces and cities from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau. Of which, the rate of households with electricity reached 99.90%. Notably, EVNSPC is the unit supplying electricity to the most island districts in the country - including remote islands such as Truong Sa, DK1 Platform, where each electric ray is a thread connecting the mainland with the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland.

Not only taking care of “production light”, EVNSPC also actively invests in modernizing the power system, applying digital technology and artificial intelligence in operations and management, improving customer service quality, promoting cashless payments, and building an electronic ecosystem for customers. These are solid steps in the digital transformation roadmap, towards a modern and professional electronic enterprise.
Instead of holding a celebration, EVNSPC decided to use all the savings from not holding festival activities and continue to mobilize from society to build 815 new houses for poor households in especially difficult circumstances in 21 southern provinces and cities.

Of these, 315 houses were built from the Corporation’s budget with a total value of 18.9 billion VND, the remaining 500 houses were mobilized from accompanying organizations and enterprises with a total cost of 30 billion VND. These are not just reinforced concrete houses, but also warm homes filled with love, a support for hundreds of families to overcome their fate, have a solid foundation to rebuild their lives.
This action has spread the deep sense of social responsibility of state-owned enterprises. EVNSPC not only provides electricity, but also persistently accompanies the community. The philosophy of development associated with serving the community has become the core value that generations of EVNSPC leaders and employees always preserve and promote.

Gratitude for history - Proud to continue
Not only stopping at social activities, EVNSPC also set a determined emulation goal: to complete and put into operation 50 110kV power grid projects on the occasion of April 30, 2025 - as a complete symbol for the 50th anniversary of national reunification and 50 years of the Southern electricity industry's maturity.
In the context of legal entanglements, site difficulties, complex terrain, harsh weather and labor shortages, EVNSPC still chose to proactively change its approach: Starting construction and accelerating construction progress from the beginning of the year - instead of rushing it to the end of the year as before - making the most of the dry season in the South. The decisive participation of leaders at all levels, the support of local authorities and the tireless efforts of the team of engineers and workers have helped 31/50 projects finish ahead of schedule, the remaining 19 projects are continuing to be accelerated, expected to be completed on schedule on the occasion of the April 30 holiday.

Not only is the goal of quantity, completing 50 projects on time for the holiday is also an act of gratitude to the predecessors - generations of electricians who have devoted themselves to rebuilding the power grid amidst the ruins of war. It is also EVNSPC's commitment to the Party, the State and the People on the responsibility of ensuring electricity for sustainable development.
In the first 6 months of 2025, EVNSPC aims to complete 84 110kV power projects; strive to put 122 projects into operation throughout the year - contributing to ensuring stable and safe power supply, meeting the socio-economic development requirements for the Southern key economic region in 2026 and the following years.
Half a century has passed, from the early difficult days to a strong enterprise, EVNSPC has constantly innovated, adapted, and grown. With more than 20,000 officers and employees - those who are living and contributing under the common roof of EVNSPC - it is a journey of gratitude, aspiration to continue and affirm the mettle in the integration era.

Paying tribute to previous generations, EVNSPC today continues to preserve and spread the good values of the electricity industry: solidarity - discipline - creativity - efficiency - affection. Each project, each line, each new energization is a milestone in the journey for a prosperous South, for a prosperous country.
With a proactive attitude, innovative spirit, service mindset and a warm heart for the community, EVNSPC is firmly entering a new development phase - a phase of comprehensive digital transformation, green and sustainable development and making stronger contributions to the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country in the new era.
