Proactive solutions
To ensure transmission capacity of the Central - Northern section from Da Nang - Vung Ang - Ha Tinh - Nghi Son - Nho Quan, EVNNPT has deployed many solutions and completed them before April 30, 2024, such as: directing units to develop and implement plans to prevent and reduce incidents for each line and each transformer station; ensuring the completion of periodic equipment testing in 2024; cleaning, maintaining, and handling defects of station and line equipment during power outages; repairing equipment; swapping, reversing isolating switches, replacing current conductors, replacing isolating switches of the 500kV transformer stations connecting the Central - Northern line to ensure operation when transmission is high; establishing and putting into operation all special shedding circuits according to capacity on the 500kV line, shedding according to low voltage, shedding according to frequency, emergency load shedding from the SCADA system, etc.
Regarding periodic testing, in 2024, the 500kV transformer stations connecting the Central - Northern grid have been basically completed, with only a few bays remaining to be cut off for implementation.
The work of cleaning insulation, adding insulation, checking accessories, handling sway, installing additional rudders at anchor positions, repairing the grounding system, handling rudder head contact, cutting trees in the corridor, handling phase-to-ground distance, cleaning hotlines, etc. has been carried out simultaneously for the entire Central - Northern transmission line. Currently, the lines are operating, and some heat-generating points during high transmission have been promptly handled.
Mr. Luu Viet Tien - Deputy General Director of EVNNPT said that to ensure the safety of the power transmission system, EVNNPT has completed the installation of 8 additional shunt capacitor banks with a total capacity of 375 MVAr at 8 220kV transformer stations in the Northern region earlier than the plan assigned by EVN (specifically at 220kV stations Quang Chau, Yen My, Long Bien, Thanh Nghi, Bac Ninh 3, Hai Ha, Kim Dong and Vinh Tuong). In addition, EVNNPT has completed increasing the capacity of shunt capacitor banks at 220kV transformer stations Mai Dong and Van Tri by about 31 MVAr shunt capacitor banks; contributing to ensuring the operation of the Northern power grid during the first phase of the peak heat wave.
At the same time, EVNNPT arranges human resources, increases equipment inspection, and increases on-duty at transformer stations and on power lines during high transmission times.
Mr. Luu Viet Tien added that to be proactive in the hot season, EVNNPT is continuing to review spare materials for main equipment to ensure the fastest replacement when abnormalities or incidents occur. For transformers, spares have been prepared at the 500kV stations of Quang Ninh, Hoa Binh, Hiep Hoa, Thuong Tin, and Tay Ha Noi. For primary and secondary equipment, EVNNPT has reviewed equipment by type to be ready for replacement when abnormalities occur.
In the investment and construction work, EVNNPT is urgently implementing the 500kV line 3 project from Quang Trach to Pho Noi to increase the transmission capacity of the Central - North and is striving to complete it in June 2024. Along with that, EVNNPT is also actively implementing the 220kV Nam Sum - Nong Cong line project and projects to relieve power sources in the areas.
Promote the application of science and technology
In recent times, EVNNPT has focused on implementing and achieving many achievements in digital transformation and applying science and technology. This has fundamentally changed the management, operation and repair of EVNNPT's transmission grid.
Accordingly, EVNNPT has completed digitizing power grid information on the PMIS technical management software developed by EVN; completed digitizing power grid information on the GIS geographic information map and widely deployed the application throughout EVNNPT.
This unit also widely deployed experimental management software, line inspection software applying artificial intelligence (AI) and substation inspection software; completely changed from manual implementation to using software; inspected line equipment with 245 UAV devices applying AI to analyze images; installed and exploited lightning warning monitoring system; researched and tested the equipment temperature monitoring system, joint temperature in substations, etc.
EVNNPT also digitally transforms repair and maintenance through the use of major repair management software and deploys repair and maintenance based on CBM operating status (calculating equipment health index) for most major equipment on the transmission grid such as: transformers, circuit breakers, voltage transformers, current transformers, disconnectors, lightning arresters, electrical resistors and medium voltage equipment.
In the coming time, EVNNPT will continue to promote digital transformation and apply science to improve the efficiency of transmission grid operation management. Specifically, the unit focuses on the following contents: perfecting experimental management software, line operation management testing software, and substation testing software to fully meet the requirements of transmission grid operation management; promoting the effective application of UAV and AI to analyze images for line operation management; effectively exploiting GIS software and other digital transformation software; applying real-time monitoring systems for joint temperature and equipment temperature at some substations.
