On June 6, according to information from EVN, this group has issued a document directing its member units headquartered in the northern provinces and cities to immediately implement urgent electricity saving measures from now until the end of August, in the spirit of "thoroughly saving electricity right at the workplace".
EVN requires units to minimize lighting and air conditioning to save electricity.
Specifically, EVN requires units not to use air conditioning in offices, public areas (corridors, lobbies, etc.) when the outdoor temperature is below 35 degrees Celsius. Air conditioning is only used in some areas serving the operation of the power system, equipment rooms must use air conditioning to ensure safe operation of equipment as required such as server rooms, control rooms, control centers, etc.
Regarding lighting, EVN also requires units to make the most of natural light sources; do not use lights for corridors and public areas that are not really necessary; do not use lights for garden areas, fences, decorative lights, etc. (except in cases of ensuring security, safety, special cases as required by local authorities or superiors). In addition, units with generators at headquarters need to be ready to mobilize generators when required.
In addition, EVN recommends that employees prioritize wearing simple but polite summer clothes (short-sleeved, airy shirts). Unnecessary electrical devices such as hot and cold water dispensers, display screens in public areas, etc. are also required to be limited in use.
In the document, EVN requires the head of the unit to directly direct and take responsibility for implementing electricity saving measures at their headquarters, and to report weekly on the implementation results.
Previously, on June 3, at the regular Government press conference, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said that it is not when there is a power shortage that we call for electricity saving, this has been a consistent, long-term policy up to now.
In the current context of difficult power supply, saving electricity plays an increasingly important role, bringing immediate and practical results and needs to be implemented strongly and drastically.
According to the update of the Ministry of Industry and Trade up to now, nationwide, 55/63 People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities have issued documents directing to ensure electricity supply, save electricity, deploy propaganda work, direct specialized agencies to coordinate with electricity units and electricity customers to join hands in practicing electricity saving, and develop plans for reasonable and effective electricity use.
According to statistics, the daily electricity saving output reaches about 20 million kWh/day, equivalent to about 2.5% of daily electricity consumption.
