EVN proposed that the Prime Minister assign this group to continue investing in Ninh Thuan nuclear power projects.
The above information was mentioned by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) at the conference to review the work in 2024 and the plan for 2025 held on January 6.
Previously, EVN was assigned by the Prime Minister to be the investor of the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project in documents No. 460/TTg-KTN dated March 18, 2010 and 7276/VPCP-KTN dated October 17, 2011.
Now, the National Assembly has agreed to restart nuclear power projects, so EVN proposes to continue being assigned as the investor of these projects.
Regarding EVN's business results and financial situation in 2024, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, General Director of EVN, said that thanks to the increase in electricity prices in October 2024, EVN has balanced its finances after 2 consecutive years of losses.
Total consolidated revenue of the whole group in 2024 is estimated at 575,000 billion VND. Of which, the revenue of the parent company - EVN is 480,662 billion VND, an increase of 14.3% compared to 2023.
Regarding the task of ensuring electricity supply in 2025, EVN sets the goal of absolutely not allowing power shortages, fuel shortages and water shortages in hydroelectric reservoirs. EVN also calculates and prepares scenarios to serve electricity demand for GDP growth of 8%, even double digits.
"If so, the electricity supply must increase the load by about 15%," said Mr. Tuan.
In addition, EVN will have to step up investment in the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen line, expected to be completed in 2025.
Besides, the group must also promote the arrangement and streamlining of the organizational apparatus, improving the management efficiency of EVN and its units.
"This is a must. The political atmosphere of the whole country is working to streamline the apparatus, not excluding EVN. According to the latest instructions, by February 28, EVN must complete this project for consideration and approval," said an EVN leader.
