Manually collecting fees for vehicles entering and leaving Tan Son Nhat airport makes drivers and passengers frustrated because of prolonged traffic jams.
Previously, ACV opened a bid for the Project to Supply equipment for the cashless collection system and automatic non-stop toll collection at Noi Bai, Da Nang, Phu Bai, Cat Bi and Tan Son Nhat. These projects have a total investment of more than 210 billion VND from ACV's development investment fund.
The Ministry of Transport has urged the implementation of non-stop toll collection at airports for many years with the aim of solving the current situation of car congestion during rush hours and holidays. ACV representative said that up to this point, all conditions regarding facilities, technical solutions, and technology to implement non-stop toll collection at all airport toll stations are ready and can be implemented now, only waiting for the Government to remove obstacles in the legal corridor because according to Decision 19 of the Prime Minister, ETC accounts are only implemented for roads, so when expanding the service to ETC airport toll collection, there needs to be legal adjustments.
In addition to highways, the Ministry of Transport is also researching the application of ETC toll collection at airports, ports, and stations. Some car-related services will deploy this application to reduce direct human impact on toll collection for vehicles.
