Five airports are equipped with non-stop toll collection stations: Noi Bai, Da Nang , Phu Bai, Cat Bi, and Tan Son Nhat. The installed equipment incorporates a Tap & Go method based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, similar to the method used at highway toll stations.

The approved price list for goods includes 48 types of equipment and software, totaling over 1,000 sets. This quantity of equipment and software is intended to meet the requirements for non-stop toll collection.

In addition, the basic equipment for toll collection includes 84 RFID readers in the parking lot, entrance lanes, and exit lanes, along with 85 license plate recognition cameras, 77 antennas, and 126 switches in the lanes and server room… Furthermore, the system also includes ticketing software, a central toll collection system, administration software, virtualized servers, a firewall, and post-audit monitoring software to ensure the smooth operation of the airport's non-stop toll collection system.

Manual toll collection for vehicles entering and exiting Tan Son Nhat Airport is causing frustration for both drivers and passengers due to prolonged traffic congestion.

Previously, ACV opened a tender for the Project to Supply Equipment for the Non-Cash Payment and Non-Stop Automated Toll Collection System at Noi Bai, Da Nang, and Phu Bai airports. Cat Bi and Tan Son Nhat. These projects have a total investment of over 210 billion VND from ACV's development investment fund.

The Ministry of Transport has been urging the implementation of non-stop toll collection at airports for many years with the goal of resolving traffic congestion during peak hours and holidays. A representative from ACV stated that, at this point, all the necessary conditions regarding infrastructure, technical solutions, and technology for implementing non-stop toll collection at all airport toll stations are ready and can be implemented now. They are only waiting for the Government to resolve legal obstacles because, according to Decision 19 of the Prime Minister, ETC accounts are only for road transport, so expanding the service to ETC toll collection at airports requires legal adjustments.

In addition to expressways, the Ministry of Transport is also studying the application of ETC toll collection at airports, seaports, train stations, and some car-related services. This aims to reduce the direct impact of human intervention in toll collection on vehicles.
