On the morning of April 23 in Hanoi, the Young Pioneers and Children Newspaper (TNTP&ND) and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) held a press conference to inform about the Toyota Cup 2025 national U.9 football tournament. The press conference was attended by writer and journalist Nguyen Phan Khue, Editor-in-Chief of TNTP&ND Newspaper, Head of the Tournament Organizing Committee; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vu, Vice President of VFF; Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoi, Standing Member of the VFF Executive Committee; Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Trang, Deputy General Secretary of VFF, Co-Head of the Tournament Organizing Committee; Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau, Deputy General Secretary of VFF; General Director of Toyota Vietnam Automobile Company Nakano Keita, representative of the main sponsor; Editorial Board of TNTP&ND Newspaper; representatives of sponsors; and players representing the forces participating in the tournament. In particular, the press conference also had the presence of 2 national players, defender and captain Do Duy Manh and striker Pham Tuan Hai.

With the desire to find and nurture talents, contributing to the development of youth training for the country's football, the national U.9 football tournament was held for the first time in 2021, with the participation of 16 teams from 16 provinces/cities nationwide. After 4 years of organization, the tournament has received attention and love from state leaders at all levels; departments, branches, and sectors; fans and especially young players across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, writer and journalist Nguyen Phan Khue said: “The national U.9 football tournament will contribute to finding young talents for national football. In 2025, with continuous development, the national U.9 football tournament Toyota Cup 2025 has welcomed 30 U.9 teams to register to participate, which is a special gift, marking 30 years of Toyota's attachment and development in Vietnam”. The editor-in-chief of TNTP&ND Newspaper also expressed sincere thanks to VFF and sponsor Toyota Vietnam.

Having grown up from the national TNTP&ND Newspaper football tournament many years ago, national players Do Duy Manh and Pham Tuan Hai shared meaningful and encouraging words to the U.9 players. Center back Duy Manh shared: “Today, I am very happy to attend the press conference to announce the Toyota Cup 2025 national U.9 football tournament. The tournament is a useful playground for young people to express their passion for football every summer. Having grown up from the tournament, I am very honored and proud, and it is also my responsibility to contribute to the country's football.”

When asked by the U.9 players about his feelings when being chosen as captain, Duy Manh expressed: “I am very honored to be chosen by my beloved teachers and given the responsibility of being captain. It is an honor, a pride, but to do well the assigned task, I had to make a lot of effort and try hard. Who knows, in the future, you will also be chosen as captain, you need to prepare your knowledge, practice hard to be able to help Vietnamese football develop further.”

Answering the witty question of the U.9 young player, player Pham Tuan Hai said: “I started practicing football when I was 9 years old like you guys now. I used to miss home, miss my family and cry a lot but only for 2 days. I told myself that if I decided to follow the path of football, I had to be strong to overcome all those memories. In addition to talent, to pursue a football career, we must have ethics and put ethics first.”

The 2025 National U.9 Football Tournament will take place in Tay Ninh from August 9 to August 26, with the participation of the following teams: Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Thai Binh, Hanoi Club, Hanoi Police Club, PVF - CAND Club, HYS Hanoi, Hai Phong, Luxury HL Quang Ninh, Gia Bao Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Viet Hung Thanh Hoa, Song Lam Nghe An, Phu Dong, T&T VSH, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, SHB Da Nang, Thuan An Binh Duong, Khuyen Nong Binh Phuoc, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Ho Chi Minh City, Ban Me Ngoc Hung, Van Tam Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, Long An, Binh Duong Football Federation.
