According to information from VFF, Viettel Club's central defender Bui Tien Dung was summoned by coach Philippe Troussier to join the Vietnam national team to prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Bui Tien Dung was called up to replace central defender Do Duy Manh who was unexpectedly injured before the Vietnam national team's gathering day.
Center back Bui Tien Dung just scored a goal for Viettel Club in round 3 of V-League 2023/24 last weekend, when Viettel hosted Hong Linh Ha Tinh Club at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi).
The addition of central defender Bui Tien Dung to the national team helps coach Philippe Troussier's team gain more experience. Tien Dung is a seasoned player who has participated in many different international tournaments under coach Park Hang Seo.
Bui Tien Dung is also one of the best central defenders in Vietnamese football in recent years. The biggest disadvantage of this player is his physique (1m76 tall). But in return, Bui Tien Dung has the ability to read situations well and has good ball-winning techniques.
The return of Bui Tien Dung is expected to help coach Philippe Troussier have more options to choose from, in the context that the team's defense is suffering from a loss of personnel.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will have a week to practice before narrowing the list down to 28 players and moving to the Philippines on the morning of November 13.
The team is expected to have three more training sessions in the Philippines before finalizing the list of 23 players for the match against the host team, taking place on November 16. This is also the opening match of the Vietnamese team in Group F, the second qualifying round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Asia.
After the match with the Philippines, coach Philippe Troussier and his team will return to Hanoi to prepare for the match against Iraq, which will take place at My Dinh National Stadium on the evening of November 21.
It can be seen that in this training session, besides the experienced key players who have affirmed their positions through the team's training sessions, coach Philippe Troussier also summoned many young players.
This is also understandable because the French coach is responsible for ensuring the strength of both the national team and the national U23 team, so giving the opportunity to train with the national team for the U23 players is a necessary thing to prepare for the 2024 AFC U23 Championship which will take place in April next year.
