The intersection connecting Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 with Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway will be completed by the end of October 2025.
Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 is a national key project, with a total length of more than 76km, passing through Ho Chi Minh City and 3 provinces: Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Long An, divided into 8 independently operated component projects.
Long An was assigned as the investor of two component projects, including component project 7 construction with a total investment of more than 3,000 billion VND and component project 8 site clearance with a total capital of nearly 1,200 billion VND.
Of which, component project 7 is under construction with 3 main expressway packages with output reaching 62%; 1 additional package to adjust the end-of-route intersection and 1 package to complete the connection (traffic safety, fences, lighting,...) has completed the input procedures.
Specifically, the XL1 package for the construction of the main expressway route in the segment km 85+200-km88+766 is implementing 9 construction projects, with the implementation value reaching 57% of the construction value of the contract; the XL2 package for the construction of the Tan Buu bridge on the main expressway route, the parallel route of the left branch and the parallel road from DT830C to the intersection in the segment km 88+766-km 90+472, is implementing 13 construction projects, with the implementation value reaching 61.81% of the construction value of the contract; the XL3 package for the construction of the end intersection in the segment km 90+472-km 91+568 is implementing 5 construction projects, with the implementation value reaching 68.88% of the construction value of the contract.
According to information from the Long An Department of Transport, the project is currently on schedule, striving to basically complete the expressway section in October 2025 and the entire project in 2026 as directed by the Government.
In order to ensure the project's progress, the Department of Transport and construction units have developed a plan and set specific completion milestones for each item of the project.
Accordingly, the highway section will complete the roadbed sand filling by April 30, 2025; the roadbed gravel foundation construction by August 31, 2025; the road surface asphalt paving by October 31, 2025; and the technical finishing and opening work by December 31, 2025.
For the river overpass and expressway viaduct, by August 31, 2025, the work of installing girders and concrete bridge deck will be completed; by October 31, 2025, the work of paving the bridge deck and railing system will be completed; by December 31, 2025, the technical finishing and opening work will be completed.
As for the final intersection connecting to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh project, by October 31, 2025, the entire intersection will be technically opened to traffic; the remaining branch connecting to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway (including the overpass across Ring Road 3) will strive to complete the handover to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway project before April 30, 2025.
The remaining connection items will be completed in 2026 to put the project into operation in accordance with the Government's direction.
Mr. Dang Hoang Tuan said that the materials for the project are basically met. However, crushed stone materials for the road surface foundation are starting to become scarce because a series of expressway and Long Thanh airport projects are entering the road surface construction phase to complete 3,000km of expressway in 2025 under the direction of the Prime Minister.
Currently, the project section through Long An province requires nearly 162,000m3 of crushed stone, but the construction units have only gathered more than 21,000m3 . The Long An Department of Transport will monitor and urge contractors to focus on finding sources of supply to meet the material needs of the entire project./.
