At 10 am this morning, North-South trains were able to run through Thua Thien Hue at a speed of 5 km/h after the floodwaters receded, and many sections of the tracks are being reinforced.
A representative from the Vietnam Railways Corporation stated that the rain in Thua Thien Hue province subsided this morning, and the water level gradually receded, allowing the flooded section of the railway to reopen. Six passenger trains that were waiting at stations along the route will resume operation.
Van Xa station was the most severely flooded area; at 7 am, a section of the railway track was 40 cm below water level. The My Chanh - Pho Trach section was still flooded with water below 30 cm and was gradually receding.
Despite being reopened, trains SE3, SE5, and SE2 are still temporarily suspended from Hanoi and Saigon stations today. Passengers can contact the station to return their tickets free of charge.

Due to the influence of a cold front and easterly winds at high altitudes, from November 13th to 15th, Central Vietnam experienced heavy rain, with Thua Thien Hue province being the heaviest area. The North-South railway line passing through Van Xa station in Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province, was submerged in floodwaters and had to be closed from 8 am on October 15th. The heavy rain damaged several infrastructure locations, such as railway bridges and tunnel number 8 on the Thua Luu - Lang Co section.
Two trains, SE4 and SE6, had to stop at Hue station; SE1 stopped at Dong Ha station; SE3 waited at Dong Hoi station; SE19 at Quang Tri station; and SE8 at Da Nang station, affecting more than 1,000 passengers. Due to flooding on the roads, passengers were not transferred by road but were provided with free meals on the trains.
