Along the roads, the Long Thuan Commune Youth Union in Thu Thua District has planted many trees for shade and seasonal flowers.

The Long Thuan Commune Youth Union in Thu Thua District, Long An Province, maintains four flower-lined roads, creating a green highlight for the rural landscape, with the most prominent being the road along Provincial Road 817. Implemented since December 2023, this 2.5km long flower-lined road runs from Muong Dao Bridge to Rach Chua Bridge. Along the road, the Youth Union planted 500 yellow cassia trees, 50 trumpet trees, 40 bauhinia trees, and 150 crape myrtle trees. During the flowering season, the vibrant colors create a lively atmosphere along the main transportation artery of the locality.

Cao Tuan Cuong, Secretary of the Long Thuan Commune Youth Union, said: “After completing the flower planting along Provincial Road 817, the Commune Youth Union maintains care and monitors the condition of the plants, promptly replanting any plants affected by the hot weather that are not thriving. In addition, the Commune Youth Union also coordinates with the Commune Police to build security and order lighting along the roads , install security cameras, and cooperates with the Commune Farmers' Association to implement a model for sorting plastic waste and pesticide bottles along the roads.”

In Hiep Hoa commune, Duc Hoa district, the model of building flower-lined roads continues to spread with the active participation of youth union members. With support from the District Youth Union, more than 50 union members contributed to improving the landscape, collecting waste, and planting flowers such as cosmos and daisies along many roads. These flower-lined roads not only bring vibrant colors to the streets but also demonstrate the proactive spirit of the local youth in jointly preserving a clean and civilized living environment.

According to Nguyen Van Nhut, Secretary of the Youth Union of Hiep Hoa commune: “In 2024, the Youth Union of the commune implemented two projects under the motto 'The State and the People work together,' including the Bo Thanh Extended Road and the rural road in Hoa Binh 1 hamlet, with a total length of over 1km and a total cost of over 1.7 billion VND. After the completion of the concrete paving, the Youth Union will continue to plant flowers and trees along the roads to create a green, clean, and beautiful landscape, contributing to the construction of an advanced new rural area.”

In addition, the Hiep Hoa Commune Youth Union regularly maintains 40 solar-powered streetlights that were installed in 2022 thanks to the District Youth Union's efforts. Aiming to build an advanced new rural area and to celebrate the Party Congress at all levels, the Commune Youth Union planted over 500 Thai crape myrtle trees and 10 pots of lotus seedlings along the canal next to the road to create more green spaces for the locality.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Tam (Hoa Binh 1 hamlet, Hiep Hoa commune) happily shared: “Previously, both sides of the Extended Embankment Road were overgrown with weeds, making it look unsightly. Since the community groups cleared the weeds and planted flowers, the road has become cleaner and more presentable. Everyone in the neighborhood feels happy when passing by. We are also more conscious of maintaining hygiene, proactively watering and caring for the plants and flowers so they can thrive.”

The flower-lined roads created by youth union members are gradually changing the face of rural areas, contributing to building a green, clean, and beautiful living environment. Besides creating beautiful landscapes, these projects clearly demonstrate the role and responsibility of young people in working together with the local community to implement the criteria for new rural development and spreading awareness of environmental protection.
