Following the dispatch on proactive prevention and response to storm No. 1 deployed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), this afternoon (July 17), Director Dinh Viet Thang continued to sign and issue a dispatch to relevant units to continue proactive prevention and response to storm No. 1 (Talim).
To proactively respond to storm No. 1, ensure safety of flights, people and property at airports, and minimize negative impacts on flight operations, Director Viet Thang requested airlines to proactively adjust flight schedules where possible, move flights forward or postpone them after the time of bad weather warnings.
Airlines need to thoroughly educate pilots to comply with safety principles before and after storms, prepare flights to and from Noi Bai, Van Don, Cat Bi international airports, calculate fuel levels, and choose alternate airports from Vinh, Da Nang, etc., depending on the type of aircraft.
The Director of the Civil Aviation Authority requested airlines to adjust flight schedules appropriately to avoid storm No. 1.
Regarding flight plans, the Director assigned the Air Transport Department, airlines, and related units to arrange 24/7 duty to immediately resolve airlines' proposals to adjust flight schedules due to the storm's impact.
Van Don and Cat Bi international airports need to move aircraft scheduled to land at Van Don and Cat Bi international airports (except in cases of force majeure) to other airports.
Cat Bi International Airport cooperated with Green Planet Aviation Joint Stock Company to tie down aircraft parked at the airport to ensure safety in storm prevention work.
Director Dinh Viet Thang also stated in the dispatch that, according to the assessment of the Aviation Meteorological Center, the weather is dangerous at the airports during the following time frames, requiring the Northern Airport Authority, based on its functions and tasks, to implement procedures to stop receiving aircraft arriving/departing from the following ports: Noi Bai Airport from 11:00 to 20:00 on July 18, 2023, Van Don International Airport from 09:00 to 19:00 on July 18, 2023, Cat Bi International Airport from 09:00 to 19:00 on July 18, 2023.
At the same time, the Northern Airport Authority regularly updates information about Storm No. 1 from the Aviation Meteorological Center to proactively adjust the opening/closing time at airports in the affected area of the Storm according to regulations.
The Director also requested the Aviation Meteorological Center to continuously monitor the developments of the Storm, update the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue and relevant agencies and units.
