Don't mess around with salaries and bonuses!

April Fool's Day (1-4) has passed this year, but the wave of anger directed at the British postal company Royal Mail has not subsided, stemming from a harmful prank related to the company's salary and benefits.

Sky News reported that on April 1st, a branch of the Royal Mail postal company in Gloucester, England , posted a poster announcing that the company had reached an agreement with the Communications Workers Union (CWU) to increase employee salaries by up to 11% and offer additional benefits, including the purchase of a new fleet of vehicles and the hiring of 10,000 more employees.

The branch even encouraged employees to share the announcement on social media. Their wish came true, as the message subsequently spread to other Royal Mail branches across the UK.

The story might not have escalated so much if the prank hadn't occurred at a time when many Royal Mail employees were on strike due to low wages and unsatisfactory working conditions. After discovering that the announcement from the Gloucester branch was just an April Fool's joke, they were extremely angry. Many employees felt that the Gloucester branch management was unprofessional and that, regardless of the occasion, it was inappropriate to joke about wages and compensation with workers.

On several online forums, Royal Mail employees posted numerous comments expressing outrage and demanding the dismissal of the manager behind this cruel prank. "There are weird jokes that are funny and don't hurt anyone. But they played a terrible prank on people who are struggling with paychecks and mental health issues," wrote one Royal Mail employee.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said the poster has now been removed and the company has apologized to its employees. In a statement, Royal Mail stated: “We apologize for any offense caused by a misguided joke by one of our branches. The poster has been removed, and the branch manager has apologized.”

It's unclear how those involved felt when their prank was dubbed by many netizens as the "worst April Fool's Day prank" this year.

NINH GIANG

This is no joke.

This is no joke.

That joke went too far.
