Storm No. 3 and its aftermath have caused severe damage in many provinces in the northern mountainous region. In response to the need to coordinate information on rescue, relief and assistance for our compatriots, more than 30 Vietnamese engineers around the world have put into operation the Emergency Rescue Information Network (ERIN).
ERIN 2024 is developed based on the technology platform and experience available from the Central Rescue (2020) and Companion Physician (2021) projects, along with the dedication of a team of technology experts working domestically and internationally.
With just a device connected to the Internet, after completing the online training, volunteers can directly participate in the emergency rescue information network without being limited by time or location. These people will perform online tasks such as receiving rescue requests, verifying, screening, and classifying information for each rescue case, etc.
Once launched, the Emergency Rescue Information Network has become a hub for data collection, resource coordination, and real-time relief updates. Any individual, agency, or organization can become an information provider.
ERIN receives rescue information via the toll-free hotline 1800.6132. This switchboard is always in operation 24/7 to receive all rescue requests from people in disaster areas, not missing any cases in need of rescue.
Based on information provided by the community and information scanned from social networks, the network will verify, screen, and classify each case in need of rescue. This will become a complete and comprehensive database system, serving as the foundation for coordinating rescue, relief, and relief activities in many localities.
As a result, households in need of relief will be connected to the nearest relief team, minimizing the situation of information fragmentation, lack of system and overloaded lines. Agencies, organizations and relief teams will be connected to areas, cases compatible in terms of location, route, needs, human and material resources, thereby minimizing risks and waste of resources.
As of the afternoon of September 12, after 24 hours of deployment, the Network had received information about 1,300 households in need of rescue, maintaining 30 volunteers on duty at the switchboard with more than 800 calls made.
