Increasing the opening of training courses on mulberry growing and silkworm raising techniques helps prevent diseases in silkworms.

According to a report from the District Department of Agriculture and Environment , recently, the unit has coordinated with the Agricultural Center and the People's Committees of communes to inspect and work with a number of silkworm farming households in the area .

Through work and feedback from local authorities and silkworm breeders, silkworm farming previously developed normally, with few diseases and silkworm breeders had a stable income . However , from March 2024 to now, silkworms often get sick; in which, there is a situation where silkworms do not spin cocoons, causing great damage to silkworm breeders.

Through surveys and consultations with experts, some initial causes of silkworm diseases were identified as follows: In mulberry growing areas, the mulberry growing area is adjacent to or close to the growing area of crops and industrial plants using pesticides; silkworm diseases are mostly caused by viruses that often remain in the silkworm breeding environment and can easily spread to the next batches of silkworms. Some batches of silkworms may be partly caused by the influence of the quality of silkworm eggs.

To strengthen disease prevention on silkworms to minimize damage, contributing to the sustainable development of the silkworm farming industry in the district , the People's Committee of Duc Trong district assigned the District Agricultural Center to regularly monitor the disease situation on silkworms, report to the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine and Aquaculture, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection to have appropriate disease prevention measures; open training courses, propagate to silkworm farmers about mulberry growing techniques, silkworm raising techniques, measures to prevent diseases on silkworms; regularly investigate the situation of pests and diseases on mulberry trees and diseases on silkworms.

In addition, the People's Committees of communes and towns strengthen propaganda work , recommending that people producing mulberry trees apply measures to prevent diseases on silkworms according to the instructions of the District Agricultural Center.

Currently, Duc Trong district has 1,819 hectares of mulberry, concentrated in some communes such as Binh Thanh, N' Thon Ha, Lien Hiep, Tan Hoi, Tan Thanh and Ninh Gia. This is the second locality in the province in terms of area and silkworm cocoon output, only after Lam Ha district.
