Putting into operation Viettel Post's smart sorting technology complex

Viettel Post's smart sorting technology complex has the highest level of automation in Vietnam, using autonomous goods sorting robots (AGV robots), large sorting systems (Wheel Sorter Matrix) and conveyor sorting systems (Cross-belt Sorter). Viettel Post is the first logistics company in Vietnam to deploy AGV robot technology.
Many leading technologies are applied at Viettel Post's smart sorting technology complex.
On January 17, 2024, Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation (Viettel Post) inaugurated Vietnam's first smart sorting technology complex, affirming Viettel's strategy and commitment to becoming a leading enterprise in logistics technology in Vietnam.
With more than 40 import/export ports and nearly 1,200 dividing ports, the complex has a processing capacity of up to 1,400,000 postal items/day, an increase of 40% compared to before, helping to increase the load capacity of the entire Viettel Post system to 4,000,000 postal items/day, equivalent to meeting 50% of e-commerce capacity in Vietnam. The error rate of the complex is almost zero, shortening the entire delivery time from 8-10 hours, increasing output 3.5 times. Thanks to automation, the complex also helps to optimize 60% of human resources costs.
Mr. Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group emphasized: “The opening of the first and largest smart sorting technology complex in Vietnam is the first step in the process of building a smart logistics infrastructure. In addition to the two national infrastructures that Viettel has built on the largest and most extensive scale in Vietnam, which are telecommunications infrastructure and digital infrastructure, Viettel continues to build a national logistics infrastructure, contributing to making Vietnam a logistics center of the region and the world, participating in the implementation of the goal that by 2025, the logistics industry will contribute 5% -6% to GDP”.
The complex's operational monitoring management is the NOC system that tracks the journey of each order in real time. The smart monitoring system includes Digital Twin technology, AI cameras, controls the status of the entire equipment system and cargo exploitation activities, detects and warns of abnormal behaviors, and helps to promptly handle arising problems.
The logistics ecosystem includes warehouse management software, app/web system, delivery technology solutions chain, weight monitoring, conveyor monitoring, smart locks... all developed by a team of 100% Vietnamese engineers and experts, completed in more than 6 months. Meanwhile, with systems of similar scale, large enterprises in the world take about 2 years to deploy before being able to put into practical use.
Viettel Post's complex includes 3 systems: AGV robot, Wheel Sorter Matrix, Cross-belt Sorter. In which, AGV robot is a self-propelled robot that automatically sorts 100% of light, thin, specially shaped, round and rolling goods, suitable for goods on e-commerce platforms. This is a modern robot technology used by many large logistics units in the world.
In addition, Wheel Sorter Matrix is a system for dividing large loads and packages. Cross-belt Sorter is a conveyor-type sorting system with active control, large capacity, suitable for goods paid on delivery (COD), standard packages.
