Putting into operation Ban Mong Water Plant

In July 2023, Ban Mong Water Plant, Hua La Commune, Son La City held a groundbreaking ceremony. After nearly 2 years of construction, the clean water plant with the most modern water treatment technology in the province has been completed and put into operation.

On December 24, 2021, the People's Committee of Son La province issued Decision No. 3233/QD-UBND on approving the investment policy and approving the investor to implement the Ban Mong Water Plant project for VBIC Son La Joint Stock Company to invest in the construction of the Plant with a total investment capital of about 260 billion VND. The project is implemented in 3 investment phases, phase 1 in 2022, phase 2 until 2025, phase 3 until 2030, reaching a total capacity of 27,500 m³/day and night.

After nearly 2 years of construction, Ban Mong Water Plant was put into operation with clean water meeting the standards of the Ministry of Health and local clean water standards, ensuring water supply for people in Son La city and some neighboring areas of about 35,000 to 45,000 households.

Mr. Dao Thanh Thao, Manager of Ban Mong Water Plant, said: The plant's water source is taken from Ban Mong Lake, Hua La Commune; the plant's water treatment process is operated automatically with advanced technology, using green technology, closed-loop treatment, and does not emit pollutants into the environment. Water quality parameters and indicators are continuously monitored online.

Operation at Ban Mong Water Plant

Currently, in Son La city, there are 2 units providing water supply, Son La Water Supply Joint Stock Company and VBIC Son La Joint Stock Company. Water supply enterprises have contributed to providing safe, effective, continuous, stable water supply, protecting public health, and completing the socio -economic development targets of the locality.

Mr. Luong The Cong, General Director of VBIC Son La Joint Stock Company, said: To meet the water demand for daily life, production, business and services in the city, the Provincial People's Committee has granted 11 licenses for exploiting and using underground water to Son La Water Supply Joint Stock Company and VBIC Son La Joint Stock Company to exploit and produce clean water with a total capacity of 19,850 m3 /day and night. The construction of Ban Mong Water Plant will contribute to meeting the clean water demand, ensuring that 100% of households are connected and supplied with domestic water.

The Ban Mong Water Plant project is one of the strategies for developing clean water supply in Son La province in general and Son La city in particular, realizing the national strategy on clean water supply for daily life in the province, contributing to the implementation of Resolution No. 142/NQ-HDND dated December 8, 2022 of the Provincial People's Council on the socio-economic development plan and improving health and quality of life for people, associated with completing the criteria for building civilized urban areas and building new rural areas.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the number of heat waves this summer may appear more than the average of many years, the heat level is also more severe, many temperature records may be set. Hot weather in the summer, leading to increased demand for clean water in people's daily life. The operation of Bao Mong Water Plant will provide stable, continuous, quality water supply, serving the needs of daily life, production, business, contributing to local economic development.
