Under the golden sunlight, the grounds of Pham Phu Thu Primary School (Que Loc commune, Que Son district) were filled with laughter as the school organized a folk games festival including activities such as jump rope, weaving, O An Quan (a traditional board game), capture the flag, dragon and snake game, bamboo pole jumping, etc., with the enthusiastic participation of 264 young students and children.

Do Hoang Ni Na (class 4C, Pham Phu Thu Primary School) said that she was very excited to participate in traditional folk games, which helped her feel happier and healthier, leading to more effective learning.

To encourage students to participate in enriching activities and foster friendships, Phan Thanh Primary School (Tam Ky City) organizes an annual folk art experience day. Here, under the guidance of teachers, students create their own toys from coconut leaves, bamboo, and other environmentally friendly materials to decorate their classrooms and give as gifts to their parents, teachers, and friends.

Ms. Dang Thi Ngai, Deputy Principal of Phan Thanh Primary School, said: "Experiencing traditional folk games helps children move away from modern technology devices, creates a friendly learning environment, and contributes to the preservation of folk cultural values."

Depending on the grade level and region, schools will choose folk games suitable for the age group's psychology. For example, at Huong Sen Kindergarten (Que Son), children listen to their teacher sing traditional folk songs and dance the bamboo pole dance through music and physical education activities. The lesson helps them become familiar with simple dance steps; rustic, folk melodies that are easy to learn; and observe vivid card games.

Ms. Ha Thi Kim Thu, a teacher at Huong Sen Kindergarten, said: "To increase the effectiveness of the Bài Chòi singing lesson and attract children, teachers need to invest in creative research in content such as adapting folk songs and proverbs, decorating the classroom, and designing costumes and performance styles."

Recently, teachers in charge of youth and student union activities in educational institutions throughout the province have regularly participated in training courses on life skills through folk games. Through these courses, teachers are equipped with basic knowledge and skills about popular folk art forms, suitable for each educational level and local unit, contributing to the education of the younger generation and preserving traditional cultural values.
