Bringing good books to students.

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên09/01/2024

As a member of the group advocating for the construction of the Dang Thuy Tram Library chain, I am deeply moved by this initiative of the initiators. I am honored to share this story through the media so that everyone has the opportunity to respond and contribute to building these libraries, allowing students and book lovers to access the best and most beneficial books.

Reading is a habit that is built through perseverance.

A good book can change a life.

Currently, almost every school has a library, but the book catalogs there are very limited. Our goal in campaigning to build the Dang Thuy Tram library chain is not to construct the exterior and interior of the library, but primarily to donate good, worthwhile books to students, gradually fostering a reading habit in them. Reading a good book can change a life; that's a true story from former US President Barack Obama.

When Vietnam has a "Book Day," a day for reading, it doesn't mean reading only on that day and neglecting other days. Reading is a habit that must be built persistently, and readers must also love books and enjoy reading regularly to build a reading culture for a nation.

Recently, my family purchased enough books to equip a library at Nam Dan Secondary School in Mo Duc District ( Quang Ngai Province), my hometown. The enthusiasm of the leaders of Mo Duc District and the Principal of Nam Dan School encouraged us to complete this work quickly and effectively.

Recently, my family continued our charitable work by donating the "Dang Thuy Tram Bookcase" to Le Hong Phong Secondary School in Huong Long Ward, Hue City, for a very sentimental reason: the school is located right in my wife's hometown.

A library with a rich collection of books will contribute to building a reading culture among students.

Building a reading culture for the whole society.

When I went to Hue to deliver the books, I was pleasantly surprised by the school's beautiful scenery, with shady trees and a small flower garden in front of the schoolyard. Not only were the school's administrators delighted to receive the books, but the Party Committee and People's Committee of Huong Long Ward also sent leaders to attend, showing great support for our endeavor. And since Hue is the hometown of Dang Thuy Tram, the library bearing her name makes the people of Hue very proud.

I think that if every person and every family with the financial means participates in supporting students, especially those in disadvantaged areas, mountainous regions, or coastal areas, right in their own hometown or the hometown of their spouse, from places they love and know well to places they only know through the media, but can support the creation of bookshelves so that students have access to good books, then reading will become a habit for them.

These contributions from many people will help create a reading culture for the entire society.
