As a member of the group of people who advocated for the construction of the Dang Thuy Tram Library chain, I am very grateful for this initiative of the initiators. I am honored to introduce this story through the media so that everyone has the opportunity to respond and contribute to the construction of libraries, so that students and book lovers can read the best and most useful books.
Reading is a habit that is built with perseverance.
A good book can change your life.
Almost every school has a library, but the book list there is very poor. Our purpose when campaigning to build the Dang Thuy Tram library chain is not to build the exterior and interior of the library, but mainly to give good books worth reading to students, gradually creating a reading habit for them. Reading a good book can change your whole life, that is a true story from former US President Barack Obama.
When we have a "Book Day" in Vietnam, a day for reading books, it is not just about reading books on that day, but not on other days. Reading books is a habit that must be built persistently, and readers must also love books, enjoy reading books regularly, to build a reading culture for a country.
Recently, my family bought enough books to equip a library at Nam Dan Secondary School in Mo Duc District (Quang Ngai), my hometown. The enthusiasm of the leaders of Mo Duc District and the Principal of Nam Dan School encouraged us to do this work very quickly and effectively.
Recently, my family continued to donate the "Dang Thuy Tram Bookcase" to Le Hong Phong Secondary School in Huong Long Ward, Hue City, for a very emotional reason because this school is located right in my wife's hometown.
The library with its rich book catalog will contribute to building a reading culture for students.
Building a reading culture for the whole society
When I went to Hue to give the books, I was pleasantly surprised because this school has such a beautiful landscape, shady trees, and a small flower garden in front of the school yard. And not only the school board was happy to receive the books, but the Party Committee and People's Committee of Huong Long Ward also sent leaders to attend, very supportive of us in this story. And Hue is the hometown of Ms. Dang Thuy Tram, so the library named after her makes Hue people very proud.
I think, if every person, every family with economic conditions participates in supporting students, especially students in difficult areas, mountainous or coastal areas, in their hometown or their spouse's hometown, from places they love and know to places they only know through the media, but we can support bookcases for students to have access to good books, then reading will become a habit for them.
Those contributions from many people will help create a reading culture for the whole society.
