Cantaloupe, green apple, and syrup fruit in Ninh Son district of Ninh Thuan achieve OCOP product certification in 2024

On the afternoon of December 10, speaking with Dan Viet, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Son district ( Ninh Thuan ) said that the People's Committee of Ninh Son district had just held a ceremony to announce the Decision and award certificates to 10 products meeting 3-star OCOP standards in 2024.

Attending and chairing the ceremony to announce the decision and award certificates to products certified as OCOP products were Ms. Hoang Le Ngoc Anh, Vice Chairman of Ninh Son District People's Committee and leaders of departments, localities and OCOP product owners.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, at the ceremony, the representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Son district announced the decision of the district People's Committee on approving the results of product evaluation and classification under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program in 2024, with 10 products of 9 entities.

OCOP products recognized as achieving 3 stars at the district level in 2024 include: Bao Anh melon, Minh Thy melon, Thai Thuan melon, Xuan Thanh fine art wood, ginseng water, dried apple, fruit juice syrup, jam syrup, chili salt, green apple, pure tragacanth gum.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Son district, after being granted a 3-star certificate, the products will be printed with the OCOP brand and star rating on the product packaging in accordance with current regulations and will be valid for 36 months from the date the competent authorities sign the issuance decision.

Presenting certificates and congratulating the subjects, Ms. Hoang Le Ngoc Anh, Vice Chairman of Ninh Son District People's Committee acknowledged the efforts of specialized departments, localities, especially the subjects that have formed and built products under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program in recent years.

Through this ceremony, Ms. Hoang Le Ngoc Anh hopes that the subjects will continue to improve the design, improve product quality and expand the scale of production. Especially focusing on promotional activities to bring products widely to consumers, thereby creating a brand for Ninh Son agricultural products.

Previously, Ninh Son District People's Committee held a conference to evaluate and classify products under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program in 2024.

Accordingly, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, belongs to 3 product groups: Food; Beverages; Handicrafts (including: melon, apple, jam, syrup, ginseng water, decorative handicrafts) of 9 subjects.

At the conference, after the consulting unit reported on the assessment of the evaluation records of OCOP products, the District OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council scored the products according to the 2024 District-level 3-star OCOP product evaluation criteria.

Thus, by the end of 2023, Ninh Son district will have 22 3-star OCOP products and 7 4-star products. In 2024, 10 more 3-star products will be recognized and 1 4-star product and 3 potential 5-star products are being submitted for recognition.

According to Mr. Kieu Tan Thinh, Chairman of Ninh District People's Committee (Ninh Thuan), through this fruit festival, Ninh Son district has introduced its potential, strengths, promoted the fruit brand and Ninh Son agriculture to consumers and businesses inside and outside the province and the whole country.

Thanks to the fruit festival, farmers have been able to introduce delicious fruits, connecting supply and demand for agricultural products. At the same time, it has created opportunities for cooperation, exchange of experiences in the production process, and access to new technologies in the agricultural sector. Thereby, contributing to the transformation of the agricultural economic structure towards the development of sustainable organic agriculture.

Support for businesses investing in agriculture

Also according to Mr. Kieu Tan Thinh, Chairman of Ninh Son District People's Committee, the district has recently identified high-tech agriculture as a breakthrough to restructure the agricultural sector towards increasing value. This stabilizes the consumption of agricultural products, increases farmers' income, and aims to reach the goal of becoming a new rural district before 2025.

Up to now, the number of high-tech agricultural development units in the district has increased 2.3 times compared to 2020. High-tech agriculture has an average production value of over 500 million VND per hectare of cultivation, creating jobs for hundreds of rural workers with an income of over 5 million VND/person/month.

According to the People's Committee of Ninh Son district, in recent times, in addition to a number of enterprises producing high-tech agriculture themselves and in cooperation with cooperatives, a number of cooperatives in Ninh Son district have also proactively invested in high-tech agriculture quite effectively.

Specifically, Tuong Lai Xanh Cooperative (Lam Son commune, Ninh Son district) produces Bach Ngoc melons and Korean melons in a closed greenhouse, using automatic watering and fertilizing technology, sun-blocking, heat reduction, light adjustment, air-conditioning systems, etc.

Many cooperatives are developing on a scale of 20 hectares and investing in building factories to process dried fruit products, crispy dried fruit, juices, etc. In the whole Ninh Son district, there are currently 12 cooperatives, of which 10 are agricultural cooperatives that are transforming in this direction...

Mr. Kieu Tan Thinh said that to promote the development of high-tech agriculture as well as increase the value of the agricultural sector, the district continues to prioritize supporting the construction and replication of typical agricultural cooperative models, high-tech agricultural cooperatives linked in the value chain in Ninh Son district.

Ninh Son district is the vital traffic gateway of Ninh Thuan province with Lam Dong province and the Central Highlands provinces.
