As the gateway province of the Mekong Delta, located at the "intersection" between the Southeast and Southwest regions, Long An has great advantages for tourism development. In particular, Long An owns the vast Dong Thap Muoi core area, a place with a tradition of steadfast resistance, a war zone, the cradle of the revolution in the South. This locality has 2 rivers flowing through it that have entered poetry, the Dong Vam Co and Tay Vam Co rivers, with rich natural landscapes, typical of flooded lowlands, typically the Lang Sen wetland reserve in the Dong Thap Muoi lowlands with high biodiversity. Long An province has 126 historical and cultural relics, including 21 national relics and 105 provincial relics, typically: Mr. Bo Tho's house - where the first Communist Party cell of Cho Lon province was established; Duc Hoa Crossroads relic site; Vam Nhut Tao relic site; Oc Eo culture in Duc Hoa district; Ton Thanh pagoda in Can Giuoc district; Hundred-pillar house in Can Duoc district... Besides, Long An also has valuable craft villages associated with the development history of this land. This is also an important advantage that creates the premise for the formation of attractive tourism types and products.
In the period of 2021-2023, the number of tourists to Long An will grow by an average of 69% per year. Tourism revenue will grow by an average of 76% per year. In the first 9 months of 2024, the province welcomed 1,175,068 tourists, reaching 90% of the plan and tourism revenue of 660 billion VND, reaching 94% of the plan. The People's Committee of Long An province has identified industry as a key industry, tourism as a potential that needs to be effectively promoted in the coming time. To "awaken" tourism potential, Long An is building a strategy to attract investment, stimulate tourism development associated with preserving and promoting historical values, culture, natural resources and other human resources. One of the outstanding activities is to organize the "2nd Long An Province Culture - Sports - Tourism Week 2024" from November 28, 2024 to December 4, 2024. Within the framework of the event, there will be outstanding activities such as: Long An Investment Promotion Conference 2024; Conference on linkage, cooperation, tourism promotion and OCOP products between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta; Long An - Korea trade, culinary and tourism fair 2024; cultural exchange space; Long An tourism experience space; Long An traditional festival night...
