On December 28, a working delegation of the Ministry of Transport led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy inspected the progress of two expressway component projects: Bung - Van Ninh (Quang Binh) and Van Ninh - Cam Lo (Quang Tri).
Concentrate all resources to open traffic on schedule
At this time, there is drizzle in Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces. On the route, contractors are using machinery and workers to construct traffic safety items such as: positive slope roofing, installation of guardrail systems, median strips, signs, etc.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy inspected the construction site of Tam Hiep bridge under the Van Ninh - Cam Lo package.
Reporting to the working delegation, Mr. Hoang Xuan Thai, Executive Director of Bung - Van Ninh project (Project Management Board 6, Ministry of Transport) said: The total length of the project is 48.84km through Dong Hoi city, Bo Trach district, Quang Ninh district .
Up to now, the weak soil treatment section (excavation and replacement of soil) of 0.24km has been completed. The total excavation volume has reached 8.6 million m3; the filling volume has reached 5.2 million m3. Simultaneous construction of 319 culverts; 39 underpasses for civil use; reinforcement of 1,879m of slope; 60.08km of access roads.
Workers work in the rain to construct the guardrail system at the Bung - Van Ninh project.
Currently, contractors are actively implementing the final construction items such as installing signs, guardrails, fences, etc. Up to now, the completion rate of the packages has reached more than 70.7% of the contract value, meeting the set schedule.
"PMU 6 is closely monitoring the progress every day to urgently complete the intersections and main road surface, in time for traffic opening on April 30, 2025. The remaining time is very short, the Board requires contractors to focus all resources, ensuring the traffic opening milestone according to plan," said Mr. Thai.
At the Bung - Van Ninh project, according to the report of the Ho Chi Minh City Project Management Board, up to now, the two localities of Quang Binh and Quang Tri have handed over to the project 65.431/65.551km, reaching 99.8%. Of which, 321m of the handed-over site has not been cleared. The remaining 120m has not been handed over.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy requested investors to urge contractors to closely follow the progress and carefully review items to promptly handle problems arising in the project.
Of which, Quang Binh province has handed over 32.9/33.km, reaching 99.7%; the clean ground is eligible for construction of 32.867km, reaching 99.7%; the remaining 0.12km of the main route has not been handed over; 80m of the road to restore QL9C; 120m of the main route still stuck in the sections Km 691+450 - Km 691+470 belonging to households; 80m of the road to restore QL9C stuck in the sections Km 1+840 - Km 1+860 belonging to Truong Thuy commune, Le Thuy district.
In Quang Tri province, the locality has handed over 32,534/32,534km, reaching 100% of the land on the main route. Of which, the clean land is eligible for construction for 32,485/32,534km, reaching 99.84%, and the handed over land is not clean for 0.321km.
Notably, at the locations of overpasses, intersections, and repatriation roads, 86 households are still stuck. Of which, 8 households are stuck at the 9D intersection and overpass; 56 households are stuck at the QL9A intersection and overpass; 22 households are stuck at the QL9 Northern bypass; 7 households are stuck at the underpass repatriation roads at Km 714+122 and Km 714+350...
The Bung - Van Ninh and Van Ninh - Cam Lo projects are expected to open to the main route on April 30, 2025.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Project Management Board, at the Tam Hiep Bridge location, after 2 years of construction, the locality has not yet handed over the site, causing the construction to stagnate. If the "bottleneck" of the site for the overpass is not cleared, the main route cannot be constructed. Meanwhile, according to the Government's request, the Ministry of Transport must clear the main route by April 30, 2025.
The hard part is over, now it's time to push for the finish line.
Sharing the difficulties of the contractors, the Project Management Board, Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy said: The project implementation process encountered many obstacles, but the most difficult stage has been overcome.
This is the time when the project is almost completed, investors and contractors need to closely follow the design documents to ensure that when the project is put into operation, there are no errors, ensuring the quality and aesthetics of the project.
In addition, during the rainy season, contractors need to ensure traffic safety and environmental sanitation on the route.
The Deputy Minister also noted: Near Tet, there are many vehicles and people moving around, so it is necessary to do a good job of environmental sanitation, put up signs, assign people to keep watch, regulate traffic...
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy, the remaining construction time is only 4 months. The Project Management Boards must develop detailed progress schedules according to the countdown chart. Contractors must make maximum efforts to complete the main line in time. If just one link fails to keep up with the overall progress... all the efforts of the past days will be "down the drain".
Regarding site clearance work, Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy requested the Department of Construction Management and project management boards to finalize details of sections that are stuck in the ground and cannot be constructed, and make a report to the Ministry of Transport so that the Ministry can handle the matter.
