Making the defense industry the spearhead of national industry

Products researched and developed by Viettel, especially strategic products, have been and will contribute to creating the foundation for building a proactive, self-reliant, self-reliant, dual-purpose, and modern Vietnamese defense industry.

On April 9, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked with the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) on the T-09 program and Viettel's high-tech defense industry research and production activities. Also joining the working delegation were General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member and Minister of National Defense; and leaders of several central ministries and branches.

Reporting to the Prime Minister and the working delegation on the results of implementing a number of key tasks assigned by the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense in the past time to enhance the country's defense potential; Major General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel, said that Viettel has mastered system design, system integration, and core technologies of high-tech defense products. In particular, with the T-09 program, Viettel has successfully produced and delivered a number of strategic products for military equipment.

After visiting the research and production facilities and high-tech products researched and produced by Viettel; working with leaders of ministries, sectors and Viettel Group, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged, praised and highly appreciated Viettel's breakthrough results in recent times.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that under the regular and direct direction of the Politburo, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; the management and administration of the Government, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense; after one year since the Prime Minister's visit and work at the Group in 2023, Viettel has gained 5 points: More experience, more confidence, more professionalism, more and better products, and better high-quality human resources.

“The products researched and developed by Viettel, especially strategic products, have been and will contribute to creating the foundation for building a proactive, self-reliant, dual-purpose, and modern Vietnamese defense industry; promoting internal strength to build the defense industry into a spearhead of the national industry,” the Prime Minister stated.

According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, based on the strategy of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation and the goals and tasks of socio-economic development in the coming time, on the basis of analyzing the situation, Viettel needs to have new thinking, methods and approaches to achieve higher efficiency, completing the tasks assigned by the Party, State, army and people.

In particular, Viettel focuses on implementing tasks with "3 pioneers" including: pioneering innovation, high technology, emerging industries, especially semiconductor chip research and production; pioneering in daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, daring to accept risks and preventing and combating negativity; pioneering in managing, using and effectively promoting the country's resources in performing assigned tasks.

The Prime Minister requested Viettel to quickly master technology and localize more products to promote all the country's resources and develop a defense industry strong enough to effectively serve the country's revolutionary goals and tasks in the new period. In addition, research and manufacture dual-use and civilian products to serve domestic and export needs.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed the Ministry of National Defense and relevant ministries, branches and units to continue to review and perfect the defense industry development policy mechanism; develop synchronous and modern infrastructure, on par with the requirements of assigned tasks; promote human resource training and attract human resources, retain high-quality human resources to serve development; proactively research, manufacture and produce products to meet the practical requirements of the country in each stage and period.

The Prime Minister believes that Viettel Group will continue to strive, promote the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers, the heroic tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, inherit the achievements that generations of Viettel cadres have created, unite and unify; put the interests of the nation, the people, and the army above all, and excellently complete all tasks assigned by the Party, State, army, and people.
