On January 12th, Dong Thap University faced Can Tho University in the final match of the group stage of the Southwest qualifying round of the 3rd Vietnam Youth and Student Football Tournament – 2025 THACO Cup (TNSV THACO Cup 2025).
After two matches, Dong Thap University has had two draws, both with a 0-0 score, against Cuu Long University and Nam Can Tho University. Therefore, the final group stage match is crucial for this team; only a win will allow them to advance to the semi-finals.
Students from Dong Thap University traveled hundreds of kilometers to Can Tho Stadium to cheer on their team in the Southwest qualifying round of the THACO TNSV Cup 2025 football tournament.
The match against Can Tho University was not easy, as they were a team with a good record in the previous two seasons and had the advantage of being close to Can Tho Stadium and having a large number of supporters. Dong Thap University anticipated this and provided meaningful support for their players. Many leaders and lecturers from the university came to Can Tho Stadium to watch the match. Notably present was Associate Professor Ho Van Thong, Rector of Dong Thap University.

In addition, Dong Thap University actively encouraged its students to support the home team. The university went all out by providing six buses to transport nearly 200 students to Can Tho Stadium. Despite the considerable distance (almost 100 km), the university's supporters still brought drums, vuvuzela horns, flags, banners, and wore their uniforms to show their support for their team.
The fans showed no signs of fatigue despite having traveled for over two hours. The Đồng Tháp University fan section was always bustling with drums, horns, and enthusiastic cheers. Although their numbers weren't as large as the Cần Thơ University fans, they created a vibrant and balanced atmosphere in the stands.
Nguyen Thi Diem, a supporter of Dong Thap University, shared: “This is the first time Dong Thap University has participated in the Youth and Student Football Tournament, so we've received a lot of attention from the supporters. I often get motion sickness, but I was still determined to come and cheer because the team has my favorite player.”
