(NLDO) - The Ministry of Planning and Investment has seriously implemented Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW on streamlining the apparatus.
The scale and potential of the economy continue to be raised, constantly promoting the achievements gained after 40 years of renovation, especially since the beginning of the term until now, helping our country accumulate position and strength for breakthrough development in the next period.
This is the information mentioned by the Minister of Planning and Investment (MPI) when speaking at the conference to summarize the work in 2024 and deploy the tasks in 2025 of the ministry on December 28.

According to Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, by the end of 2024, we are likely to complete 15/15 main targets, with a growth rate of about 7 %, exceeding the set target ( 6-6.5 %). The Minister also pointed out bright spots in the economic picture such as attracting FDI capital, strongly promoting innovation, attracting investment in the semiconductor sector...
"The Government and the world's leading technology corporation NVIDIA have signed an agreement to establish a Research and Development Center and an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Center. This is a historic turning point for Vietnam, making our country a leading AI research and development center in Asia," said Minister Nguyen Chi Dung.
Entering 2025, the Minister emphasized that the history of formation and development of the industry over the past 79 years and preparing to enter the 80th year of accompanying the country and the people has shown that the planning - investment and statistics industry has always excellently fulfilled its assigned missions, responsibilities and tasks, always affirming its position and role as a strategic general advisory agency.
In the past time, with a high sense of responsibility, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has seriously implemented Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, seriously grasped and deployed Conclusion No. 09-KL/TW and the directions of the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the General Secretary, the Government, and the Prime Minister on the arrangement and restructuring of the apparatus, coordinated with the Ministry of Finance and relevant agencies to develop a project to merge the two agencies, meeting the progress requirements of the Central Steering Committee and the Government Steering Committee.
According to the Minister, in the coming time, the organization of the agency will change, but the functions and tasks of the planning, investment and statistics sectors will not change, and will even increase with higher requirements and demands.
"All cadres, civil servants, and public employees in the planning - investment and statistics sector promise that, regardless of the circumstances, any working position, operating under any form of organization or name, each cadre, civil servant, public employee, and employee in the sector will continue to promote the 80-year historical tradition of formation and development, the spirit of solidarity, courage and pride, uphold the flag of reform, pioneering innovation, constantly striving to contribute, serving the country, serving the people, moving forward, moving steadily, writing a new page in the history of the sector" - Minister Nguyen Chi Dung clearly stated.
Regarding some specific tasks in 2025, the Minister said that the whole industry will focus on closely monitoring, grasping the situation, improving analytical, forecasting and statistical capacity to proactively advise and propose.
Focus on promoting disbursement of public investment capital, completing the goal of having 3,000 km of expressway by the end of 2025, 5,000 km by 2030 and investing in North-South high-speed railway lines, urban railways, railways connecting with China, nuclear energy projects, artificial intelligence...
In addition, unleash all resources, use state resources to arouse, lead, and activate social resources; ensure the connection between strategies, plans, and socio-economic development tasks with state resources for implementation.
"Strengthen economic dialogue, attract large FDI projects with spillover effects, lead new economic sectors and fields, domestic value chains and participate more deeply in the global value chain. Build strong enough policies to connect businesses, cooperate and develop together between domestic enterprises and FDI enterprises" - Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed.
In addition, the tasks of researching and advising on the development of new economic models, maximizing the effectiveness of the National Innovation Center, and strongly promoting economic restructuring... will also be focused on by the Ministry of Planning and Investment next year.
