Phu Quoc tourism returns to its golden age, stimulating a wave of investment in "festival real estate"
Data from Kien Giang’s tourism industry shows that Phu Quoc is regaining strong growth momentum with the number of tourists far exceeding the pre-pandemic period. This is also the driving force for the real estate market on the pearl island.
Phu Quoc tourism makes impressive breakthrough in new period
In 2024, Phu Quoc is estimated to welcome nearly 6 million tourists, an increase of 7.1% over the same period. International visitors alone are estimated to reach 962,449, an increase of 73.4% over the same period. Compared to the golden age of pearl island tourism in 2019, this year's growth rate reached 43%.
The impressive results in the new development phase of Phu Quoc tourism are also thanks to a series of newly exploited flight routes. Currently, there are 20 airlines operating flights to Phu Quoc, with more than 150 flights/week from many countries and territories. Of which, there are many direct international flights from Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan (China) and many charter flights from Greece, UAE, Singapore, India, Russia... The total number of flights has increased by about 25% compared to 2023.
Mr. Lawrence Ho, Vietnam market sales director of Scoot Airlines - the latest airline to open a direct flight from Singapore to Phu Quoc, said: "December ticket sales show positive signs. Although they have only been on sale for about 2 weeks, flights from Singapore to Phu Quoc have been 60 - 70% full. In the coming time, not only Singaporean tourists but also Australian, European and American tourists will appear more in Phu Quoc."
In Vietnam, domestic flights to Phu Quoc are also bustling with 23-34 flights/day recorded in December. This includes the return of the Da Nang - Phu Quoc route and the new Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route, which will be operated from December 24.
The impressive recovery of tourism also opens up investment opportunities, exploiting business types of accommodation, services... and creating attractive cash flow for commercial and resort real estate types of Phu Quoc.

Thanks to the tourism "trigger", in recent months, the Phu Quoc real estate market has also become more vibrant with a large number of investors returning after a quiet market period in 2023. Sharing about the actual market situation, Ms. Do Phuong, a veteran broker in Phu Quoc, said: “Previously, investors from all over flocked to Phu Quoc just to hunt for subdivided land plots with the goal of surfing. However, recently, a large number of customers from Hanoi, Hai Phong, Nghe An, Da Nang and many southern provinces have come to Phu Quoc to look for safe investment products with diverse functions and easy cash flow exploitation.”
