In recent times, eco- tourism tours and river-lake-waterfall exploration tours such as the Da Mi lake exploration tour, the 9-tiered waterfall exploration tour, combined with a visit to fruit orchards in Da Tro village, Da Mi commune, Ham Thuan Bac district, have contributed to diversifying products and types of services for tourists visiting Binh Thuan.
When the dry northerly winds blow strongly in the lowlands, we journey back to Da Mi on the last day of the year, welcoming the first rays of sunrise, and feeling the breath of the rivers, lakes, and waterfalls. Ham Thuan Bac has many ecotourism destinations and riverside locations suitable for camping…
Pham Cong Danh, a Master's graduate from Ton Duc Thang University (Ho Chi Minh City) with extensive experience in teaching and working in community tourism, shared: "The most important factor in exploiting ecotourism linked to agricultural production is the human element. Personnel at tourism establishments, farms, etc., must have a deep understanding of the local culture, climate, ecological environment, local products, seasons, and cuisine, in addition to knowledge, skills, and the ability to operate accommodation facilities."
According to Mr. Pham Cong Danh, advertising and communication play a crucial role in successfully developing this relatively new tourism model. Businesses must identify their target customer base and develop long-term strategies based on seasons, themes, and local characteristics to pique tourists' curiosity. Furthermore, businesses must strategically position their destinations on maps to make them easily accessible to visitors.
Visitors can explore rivers, lakes, rapids, and waterfalls, such as conquering the Nine-Tiered Waterfall and the Cloud Hunting Waterfall, then enjoying the produce in the fruit orchards of Da Tro village, Da Mi commune, taking a tour of Ham Thuan - Da Mi lake at sunset, or enjoying the magical beauty of the sunrise with a cup of morning coffee. This poetic beauty is shaping Da Mi into a unique destination. It's not just agricultural tourism; with its poetic charm, Da Mi can also offer another value – "healing tourism." "I love a peaceful morning by Ham Thuan Lake. I hope that the people of Da Mi will develop community tourism and that visitors will appreciate, cherish, and preserve the cleanliness and integrity of the environment and nature here. I look forward to returning to Da Mi," shared Le Tung from MuiNe Express Travel Company, expressing his feelings upon visiting Da Mi.
Da Mi boasts a breathtaking, majestic, and verdant natural beauty, offering visitors experiences of healing and peace. Located at an altitude of 650m above sea level, Da Mi has a natural area of 13,867.37 hectares, more than 60km from the center of Ham Thuan Bac district, connected to the district center and Phan Thiet city via provincial road DT714, and to La Gi town in our province and Bao Loc city in Lam Dong province via national highway 55. Da Mi also possesses the beauty of the mysterious and charming Ham Thuan Lake and Da Mi Lake, often likened to a miniature Ha Long Bay. Visitors can venture out and challenge themselves to explore the Nine-Tiered Waterfall and the Misty Waterfall. By the light of a campfire, visitors can relax in the cool, fresh air and enjoy delicious local delicacies: catfish, carp, anchovies, etc., naturally raised in Ham Thuan Lake, and sturgeon from Da Mi Lake. Chicken raised on trees, free-range pork… and two other functional foods, bép leaves (rau nhíp) and dandelion (diệp trời, diếp dại), are processed into dozens of different dishes.
Mr. Bui The Nhan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan province, shared: “Binh Thuan is a locality with strengths in beach tourism, especially resort tourism, health care, and water sports… Besides that, Binh Thuan also has great potential for developing agricultural and community-based ecotourism with the strength of large land resources combined with advantages of rivers, canals, forests and mountains. In particular, Ham Thuan Bac district has the lush green Da Mi area, with outstanding potential for developing ecotourism and resort tourism with many scenic spots such as: Ham Thuan Lake, the mysterious and charming Da Mi Lake; Nine-Tier Waterfall, Misty Waterfall…”
With its potential and strengths in ecotourism, agricultural community tourism has yet to be fully and effectively exploited. In the near future, Ham Thuan Bac has reason to believe in the development of this type of tourism. This is especially true for ecotourism, agricultural tourism, nature exploration, adventure sports, trekking, homestay, and gardenstay, similar to some famous community tourism destinations such as Thai Hai village (Thai Nguyen); Sin Suoi Ho village (Lai Chau)... and most recently, Da Lat – a place that consistently introduces new and attractive tourism models.
