In Hai Son commune, the Dao ethnic village located close to the Vietnam - China border has long been a must-see destination for tourists when coming here. Unique murals, many bright colors and majestic mountains blend together to create a peaceful, poetic scene in the highland border area.
Hai Son Commune is a mountainous, border area 33 km from the city center, with a 12.06 km long border adjacent to China, and has an important strategic position in terms of national defense and security.

In recent times, Hai Son commune has always received the attention of the province and the city. Many policies, timely and close leadership and direction have helped Hai Son make many breakthroughs in the development process. Especially since National Highway 18C, the road connecting Hai Son - Hai Tien came into operation, the Po Hen historical site was ranked as a national monument... has opened up more favorable conditions for the locality. These are all potential destinations to exploit and promote the development of experiential tourism and community tourism.

In recent years, Mong Cai City, with its orientation towards developing community tourism, has had many new solutions and approaches. From old houses in the village, youth union members have supported painting and decorating on old, mossy walls, creating unique paintings depicting the lives of the people here.
In 2023, the Youth Union of Mong Cai City coordinated with the People's Committee of Hai Son Commune, the Youth Union of Hanoi College of Arts, VNPT Quang Ninh, and the Mong Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch to renovate and repaint the "frescoes" in this village.

To date, there have been more than 21 murals with a total area of 673 m2 decorated. These paintings help make the lives of the people more vibrant because they often welcome groups of tourists to visit, experience, and take souvenir photos.
For a long time, Mong Cai City has focused on and paid attention to the development of community tourism and experiential tourism in Hai Son commune. This is one of the necessary contents to enrich local tourism products, both attracting tourists, stimulating tourism demand, contributing to the preservation and promotion of ethnic cultural values, preserving natural resources, contributing to the sustainable economic development of the province and city.

Every year, Mong Cai City as well as Hai Son Commune always maintain activities, festivals, and highland markets to create highlights to attract tourists.
However, to truly make a mark and become a unique stopover, the Dao ethnic village - Dang hamlet in Hai Son needs more resources and strong "leverage". From there, it can take advantage of natural landscape resources, upgrade accommodation services combined with cuisine and relaxation at households.
In addition, it is necessary to strengthen coordination between local authorities, relevant sectors and units in building and developing new types of tourism; actively promote people's awareness of environmental sanitation and the "doing tourism" mindset in the community.
