Mekong Delta tourism leaves its mark at VITM Hanoi 2025

NDO - Within the framework of the Vietnam International Tourism Fair - VITM Hanoi 2025, the Mekong Delta region continues to affirm its role as a key tourism center, with many localities, units and individuals honored at the Vietnam Travel Awards 2024 ceremony.

Considered one of the lands with rich tourism potential, the Mekong Delta has constantly innovated and improved the quality of products and services, while promoting eco-tourism and community tourism models, associated with preserving cultural identity and developing the local economy .

Those efforts were affirmed at this year's ceremony, when many outstanding groups and individuals of the region were named in important categories.

In the collective category, three tourist areas and destinations in the Mekong Delta were awarded the title of "Tourist areas and destinations welcoming the most visitors in 2024": Ong De Eco-tourism Area (Phong Dien, Can Tho); Tra Su Melaleuca Forest Tourist Area (Tinh Bien, An Giang); Phuong Nam Cultural Tourist Area (Dong Thap).

In the field of human resource training - a key factor for the long-term development of the industry, Can Tho College of Tourism was honored as "Typical Tourism Training Institution in 2024", demonstrating the important role of vocationaltraining institutions in providing high-quality labor for the regional and national tourism market.

Notably, in the individual category, three representatives of the Mekong Delta Tourism Association were awarded the title of "Tourism Association Leader with Outstanding Achievements in 2024", including: Mr. Tran Viet Phuong, Chairman of the Association, Ms. Quang Xuan Lua, Executive Committee Member, Ms. Tran Thi Lan Phuong, Executive Committee Member.

In addition, Mr. Diep Kim Tuan was also honored as “Outstanding and exemplary accommodation facility director in 2024”. This is a positive recognition for individuals who have made many contributions to connecting and coordinating tourism activities, promoting regional connectivity and supporting local business development.

Leaders of the Mekong Delta Tourism Association were honored at the event.

In the context of the entire tourism industry gradually recovering and developing sustainably, the efforts of the Mekong Delta continue to affirm the correctness of the "greening" tourism orientation, contributing to consolidating Vietnam's position as a safe, friendly and attractive destination.

VITM Hanoi 2025 will take place from April 10 to 13 at the ICE Hanoi International Exhibition Center, Vietnam-Soviet Union Cultural Palace, with the theme “Developing green destinations, elevating Vietnam tourism”. The fair has 450 booths, bringing together 60 domestic and international tourism promotion agencies, 8 airlines, 16 countries and territories and more than 600 businesses operating in the fields of tourism, travel, accommodation and technology.

The key activities at the fair include connecting businesses (B2B), reaching consumers (B2C), promoting products - destinations - stimulus packages, introducing new tourism trends and technologies. In addition, many conferences and seminars were held, clearly demonstrating the role of VITM in the development orientation of Vietnam's tourism industry in the new period.
