(PLVN) - Recently, music tourism has become a product that has been heavily invested in Vietnam. With attractive and unique concerts (events), music tourism is showing signs of booming in the last months of 2024, promising to be the driving force for Vietnam to bring music tourism to the international level in the future.
Vietnamese Concert attracts tens of thousands of tourists
According to statistics from the market trend website Future Market Insights, the global music tourism market reached 5.5 billion USD in 2022 and is expected to reach 11.3 billion USD in the next 10 years. Music tourism is becoming a "billion dollar" trend that is developing strongly in countries in the Americas and gradually spreading to the Asia- Pacific region.
Vietnam is no exception, music is becoming a trend that promotes tourism development. Thanks to music shows, people from all over the world flock to famous tourist destinations such as Da Lat, Nha Trang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, etc. They enjoy music concerts and spend time having fun and relaxing. This will be an opportunity for provinces and cities to promote the beauty of culture, openness and friendliness of the people.
Vietnam is having “purely Vietnamese” concerts attracting tens of thousands of spectators. The quality and scale of these shows are increasingly improving. For example, in the past, only a few shows by Vietnamese singers such as My Tam, Trung Quan Idol, Ha Anh Tuan sold from 10,000 to 30,000 tickets and were held in large stadiums.
Recently, the two shows “Anh trai vuon ngan cong gai” and “Anh trai say hi” are receiving the attention and response of many domestic audiences. These are two shows with huge investments in both audio and visual aspects. Owning the leading music producers of Vbiz today such as: SlimV, Touliver, Justatee... along with hundreds, thousands of personnel for post-production. The stage is carefully prepared in terms of costumes, lighting, effects, choreography... creating the appeal of the music performances.
In October alone, according to the data released by the Organizing Committee of the concert “Anh trai say hi”, about 70 thousand people attended the show. The concert “Anh trai vuon ngan cong gai” attracted about 50 thousand people. This is a large number for Vietnamese music festivals from the past to the present.
During the week of the concert, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed tens of thousands of visitors from all over Vietnam to watch the eye-catching performances. In November, two more shows are being prepared to take place in the North. Tickets for the concert “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai” are being sought after by fans. Although ticket prices range from 800,000 to 10 million VND (depending on the seating area), they are always “sold out”. Many audiences even have to hire “ticket hunting” services to secure a “seat” in this concert.
Continuing to bring Vietnamese music tourism to the international level
In fact, Vietnam is considered one of the countries with great potential for developing music tourism because we have a rich and diverse culture, which can combine music with cultural, culinary, and natural tourism elements to create unique music tourism products.
Data from the report shows that in the 12 months of 2023, Vietnamese consumers ranked second in the Asia-Pacific region (41%) in terms of frequency of attending performing arts activities both at home and abroad. Topping the list was India (45%) and third was Indonesia (40%).
Notably, up to 40% of Vietnamese consumers travel abroad for the purpose of attending concerts. In particular, Thailand and South Korea have emerged as top destinations for these concert-goers and avid fans.
However, it is not only about attracting domestic tourists. Vietnamese music tourism needs to reach international level to welcome high-spending visitors from big markets such as North America, China, Korea, etc. to attend.
Recently, Vietnam has welcomed a series of international music shows such as the concert of the idol group BlackPink, attracting about 70 thousand domestic and foreign audiences. Some other notable shows such as the 8Wonder music festival with the participation of international "star" Charlie Puth in Khanh Hoa have also attracted a large number of domestic and international tourists to attend. In November 2023, the legendary band Westlife held The Wild Dreams Tour at Thong Nhat Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City with nearly 30 thousand attendees. Returning to Hanoi in June 2024, Westlife also attracted 15 thousand fans.
The combination of international music shows and tourism also creates a strong connection. Tourists come to a place to enjoy a favorite music show, while exploring local culture and experiencing tourism, resort, dining, shopping activities... Through events, not only do they increase the number of visitors but also extend their stay and increase their spending.
To effectively exploit music tourism in the coming time, tourism experts believe that it is necessary to raise awareness about the meaning and importance of organizing music events associated with tourism development. Management agencies also need to have policies to create favorable conditions for organizers and international artists to come to Vietnam to organize performances, provide legal support, and reduce taxes for activities related to organizing music events.
