The Embassy of India in Hanoi said this year's International Yoga Day will be celebrated in more than 35 provinces and cities in Vietnam, including prominent locations such as Fansipan peak in Lao Cai, Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi and other locations.
Speaking at a press conference on June 2, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya said that to celebrate the 9th International Yoga Day and raise awareness about the health benefits of Yoga, the Indian Embassy in Hanoi and the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will cooperate with many Vietnamese provinces and cities in the second half of June.

Ambassador Sandeep Arya affirmed that Yoga is a 5,000-year-old tradition of ancient India that combines physical, mental and spiritual activities to achieve harmony between body, mind and nature.
To recognize the health benefits of Yoga to people around the world, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 every year as International Yoga Day, following the call of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2014.
Vietnam is a co-sponsor of this Resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on the establishment of International Yoga Day, and is also an important partner of India in promoting and celebrating International Yoga Day.
The widespread popularity of Yoga in Vietnam shows a deep awareness of the benefits of practicing Yoga in Vietnam and its role in the deep cultural and people-to-people connection between the two countries.
Following the success of previous years' events, International Yoga Day 2023 is being held in more than 35 provinces and cities in Vietnam, including prominent locations such as Fansipan peak in Lao Cai, Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi and other locations.
In particular, with the theme "One World, One Health", International Yoga Day 2023 in Vietnam is expected to have 10,000 people participating in these events.
The opening event will be held in collaboration with the Thong Nhat Park Running Association on June 11 at Thong Nhat Park, Hanoi.
The 9th International Yoga Day will officially be held on Sunday, June 18 at the Martyrs Monument (near Ba Kieu Temple) next to Hoan Kiem Lake.
In Lao Cai, from June 16-18, at Sa Pa Town Stadium, there will be a Yoga space exhibition with documents and images introducing the history of the formation and development of Yoga in India, the world and Vietnam; documents about Yoga and products serving Yoga practice.
In particular, the Yoga performance on Fansipan peak was held on the evening of June 18 with the location being the entire space on Fansipan peak: Cloud Yard, Lower Pagoda - Middle Pagoda - Upper Pagoda; walking paths in Fansipan Legend Cable Car Tourist Area.
In addition, tourists can also experience healing tours combined with Yoga practice.

On this occasion, the Embassy of India also expressed its gratitude to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the provincial and municipal authorities for their active support and contributions to organizing local commemorative events.
The Embassy also thanked the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the Vietnam Yoga Federation, press agencies and a number of businesses and individuals for supporting the organization of International Yoga Day in Vietnam.
