Kinhtedothi - According to Nguyen Van Hieu, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, the city is determined to streamline and consolidate its organizational structure and political system to be more efficient and effective. Accordingly, it is expected that at least 19 organizations, agencies, and units will be reduced.
On December 5th, the Can Tho City Party Committee held an expanded meeting of the City Party Committee Executive Board to summarize the work of 2024 and implement the resolution on tasks for 2025.
Mr. Le Tan Thu, Head of the City Party Committee's Organization Department, stated that, in implementing the policies of the Central Committee and the City Party Committee, the City Party Committee's Organization Department has drafted and advised on the policy of reforming and reorganizing the political system's organizational structure to be streamlined, effective, and efficient, in accordance with Conclusion No. 09 dated November 24, 2024, of the Central Steering Committee on summarizing the implementation of Resolution 18/2017.
Specifically, at the city level, the Propaganda Department and the Mass Mobilization Department of the City Party Committee will be merged; the Department of Planning and Investment and the Department of Finance will be merged; the Department of Transport and the Department of Construction will be merged; the Department of Information and Communications and the Department of Science and Technology will be merged; the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will be merged; and the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will cease operations, transferring its responsibilities to the Departments of Internal Affairs, Health, and Education and Training.
The activities of 8 Party groups, 3 Party committees, and a total of 11 units directly under the City Party Committee have ended; the activities of two Party committees of the city-level blocs directly under the City Party Committee have also ended.
After the Party Committee's activities conclude, the Party Committee will establish two Party branches directly under the City Party Committee. These two branches will be named the Party Committee of the City's Party, Mass Organizations, and Judicial Agencies and the Party Committee of the City's Government Block. The Religious Affairs Department under the Department of Internal Affairs will be transferred to the Ethnic Affairs Department, establishing the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Department.
"Can Tho City plans to reduce at least 19 organizations, agencies, and units, including one specialized agency advising and assisting the City Party Committee, 5 departments, 3 Party Committees, 8 Party Groups, and 2 Party Committees of blocs directly under the City Party Committee," said the Head of the Can Tho City Party Committee's Organization Department.
Concluding the conference, Can Tho City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Hieu emphasized: The conference unanimously agreed with the City Party Committee's theme for 2025, focusing on the following contents: "Determined to streamline and consolidate the city's organizational structure and political system to be lean, effective, and efficient; to promote the mobilization of resources to boost the city's socio-economic development; and to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th City Party Congress, term 2020-2025."
Therefore, the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee suggested that in 2025, all levels and sectors should focus on leading and directing a number of key tasks. In particular, they should concentrate on implementing the revolution in restructuring and streamlining the organizational apparatus of the political system in accordance with the directives of the Politburo and the Secretariat.
At the same time, the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017, of the Central Committee of the 12th Party Congress will be reviewed in accordance with the spirit, progress, and content outlined in Plan No. 356-KH/TU dated November 27, 2024, of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee.
In addition, the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee requested that all levels and sectors continue to lead, direct, and implement seriously, synchronously, and effectively the Central Resolutions on the construction and development of Can Tho City, based on the preliminary review of the implementation of these Resolutions; accelerate the progress of the construction of key projects and the disbursement of public investment capital; continue to call for investment in new market construction projects according to the approved plan, and the system of commercial centers and supermarkets in the districts; effectively implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the city; and ensure the maintenance of political security and social order in the area…
