On December 5, Can Tho City Party Committee held an expanded meeting of the City Party Executive Committee to review the implementation of work in 2024 and deploy resolutions and tasks for 2025.

Mr. Le Tan Thu - Head of the City Party Committee's Organization Committee said that, implementing the policy of the Central Committee and the City Party Committee, the City Party Committee's Organization Committee has drafted a policy to innovate and reorganize the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently according to Conclusion No. 09 dated November 24, 2024 of the Central Steering Committee on summarizing the implementation of Resolution 18/2017.

Specifically, at the city level, merge the Propaganda Department and the City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department; merge the Department of Planning and Investment and the Department of Finance; merge the Department of Transport and the Department of Construction; merge the Department of Information and Communications and the Department of Science and Technology; merge the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to end the operation of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, transfer tasks to the Department of Home Affairs, Department of Health and Department of Education and Training.

Ending the activities of 8 Party delegations, 3 Party executive committees, a total of 11 units under the City Party Committee; Ending the activities of two City Party Committees under the City Party Committee.

After the Party Delegation ends its activities, the Party Executive Committee will establish two Party Committees directly under the City Party Committee. The names of these two agencies are the Party Committee of the City Party, Mass Organizations, and Judiciary and the Party Committee of the City Government. The Religious Committee under the Department of Home Affairs will be transferred to the Ethnic Committee, and the Ethnic Committee - Religion will be established.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Nguyen Van Hieu emphasized: The conference agreed with the 2025 theme of the City Party Committee to focus on the following contents: "Determined to reorganize and perfect the organization and political system of the city to be streamlined, effective and efficient; promote resource mobilization to promote the city's socio-economic development; successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th City Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025".
