The opening program of the Vietnam-Japan cultural week took place from November 30 to December 8, 2024 with many cultural experiences imbued with the colors of the cherry blossom country. Unique dances with kimono or wagasa umbrellas under cherry blossom trees, recreating the traditional artistic beauty of the land of the rising sun, opened the Vietnam-Japan cultural week at the "roof of the South".

Within the framework of the Vietnam-Japan cultural week, the art lantern exhibition space attracted a large number of visitors to visit and check-in. The exhibition is a space to honor the folk culture of Vietnam and Japan, including 1,200 art lanterns handcrafted from Dong Ho paintings, prints, and 500 hand-painted paintings by staff of Ba Den Mountain Tourist Area.

Tourists excitedly checked in with 1,200 lanterns of different sizes and designs displayed and lit up. Dong Ho paintings - a famous folk painting genre of Kinh Bac, or images of Japanese cultural symbols such as Samurai, Sumo, Yokai, Geisha... make each lantern a unique work of art.

Traditional Japanese Wagasa umbrellas, paper fans and paper cranes - recreating the Japanese art of Origami, or Japanese roof tiles make visitors feel like they are lost in the land of the rising sun.

The artist added to the “Memories of Nursery Rhymes” series the Zen element (meditation) - a symbol of Buddhist philosophy and a typical Japanese lifestyle with a pure and peaceful state of mind. This is also the spirit that every tourist aims for when coming to Ba Den Mountain - a sacred mountain, a pilgrimage land that helps heal the soul.

The set of paintings “Children’s Song Memories” was copied by the staff of Ba Den Mountain Tourist Area, creating unique lanterns in the art exhibition space. Ms. Pham Thao Anh (HCMC) shared: “I was really surprised when I entered this exhibition space, it reminded me of my childhood memories, and found joy in the simple, familiar things of life”.

Also on the opening day of the Japanese Cultural Week, the Ba Den leaf market attracted thousands of visitors with its vibrant atmosphere. Each visitor taking the cable car to the top of the mountain was given a Bodhi leaf to buy food and drinks with rustic dishes such as banh it, banh cuon, banh u, banh xu xe, banh bot loc, banh bo, banh da lon, cassava steamed with coconut, sweet soup, sticky rice, etc.
