On April 9, Novotel Nha Trang cooperated with Diversey Company (a Thai company famous for its solutions on hygiene and infection prevention) to organize a CoffeeBriques workshop - making charcoal from coffee grounds, attracting many tourists in the coastal city to participate.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Giang, senior manager of Diversey in Vietnam, using coffee grounds to create charcoal is a way to recycle industrial by-products into an environmentally friendly product.
When compressed into block-shaped bars, coffee grounds can be used as fuel, burning better than charcoal, greatly reducing the amount of ash burned compared to traditional coal.
Compressed coffee grounds can replace common fuels such as coal, firewood, and gas.
"We hope that this will be a way to introduce to tourists about recycling and using coffee by-products, both reducing waste and creating environmentally friendly products, especially for a tourist city like Nha Trang," said Mr. Giang.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Phuong - General Manager of Novotel Nha Trang Hotel - shared: "We believe that modern tourism is not only about enjoyment but also an opportunity for tourists to accompany sustainable values. Today's workshop is a testament to the development of tourism associated with environmental responsibility."
Experiencing making charcoal from coffee grounds, Mr. Khursed - a tourist from Moscow (Russian Federation) - said this was the first time he made a recycled product from coffee, a famous product in Vietnam.
"I find this activity very interesting, helping us learn more about recycling products that we thought were discarded, contributing to protecting the environment around us," said Mr. Khured.
