On the afternoon of April 15, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting provided weather forecast information for the three regions during the April 3 and May 1 holidays.
Prolonged heat before April 30 holiday
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year will last 5 days, coinciding with the transitional season in the North and Central regions. According to the forecast, the weather across the country will have many fluctuations, notably a widespread heat wave occurring right before the holidays, along with the risk of thunderstorms and hail in the evening.
From April 17, mountainous areas from Nghe An to Quang Ngai provinces began to record widespread heat waves, with the highest temperatures commonly ranging from 35-37 degrees Celsius, with some places above 37 degrees Celsius.

By April 18, the heat wave will spread to many places in the Central region, the Northern Delta and the Northern Midlands, including Hanoi and the Southern region. The highest temperature forecast for the day in some specific areas is as follows:
- North (including Hanoi): 35–37°C, some places above 38°C
- Central region: 36–39°C, some places above 39°C
- Southern region: 35–37°C
This heat wave is forecast to last until April 23 in the North and Central regions. In the South, the heat wave is likely to continue until the end of the month.
Extreme weather warning
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from around April 23 to 28, due to the influence of weak cold air, the North will have showers and thunderstorms, helping to reduce temperatures slightly. The Central region will also have a narrowing of the hot area, only occurring locally.
However, during the holiday from April 29 to May 4, the weather across the country tends to change as follows:
- North: Little rain, temperature increases again; hot weather may appear around May 3-4.
- Central region: The heat continues but is not as severe as in mid-April.
- Southern region: Widespread heat wave continues, with high temperatures from 34–37°C.
Due to the transitional season, extreme weather events such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds may occur, especially in the evening. In addition, prolonged heat will increase the risk of explosions, forest fires and affect people's health.
People are advised to closely monitor forecasts and take proactive measures to ensure safety for daily life, production and tourism activities during the holiday.
Enhanced forecasting, holiday service
In order to ensure timely and accurate weather information to serve people and festival and tourism activities, the Department of Hydrometeorology has directed the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting to develop a detailed forecast plan from April 15 to May 5.
According to this plan, after April 20, the Center will increase the frequency of issuing bulletins. At the same time, it will provide early warnings of dangerous weather phenomena such as heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds at sea, hail, etc.
In particular, forecasting work will focus on major event areas across the country, ensuring information is continuously updated, close to reality, effectively serving the organization and ensuring safety for outdoor activities during the holidays.
