With an investment scale of 1.2 billion USD, the US Embassy Complex Project in Hanoi started construction in April 2023. To ensure high requirements on technical standards, quality and safety from the US Government, the Project chose to use many types of high-quality steel from Hoa Phat Group, including providing more than 5,000 tons of ASTM A615/615M Grade 60 ribbed steel (according to US standards) with high mechanical and physical properties.
Hoa Phat's high-quality ASTM A615/615M Grade 60 ribbed steel is manufactured according to American standards. This is a special type of steel with a non-tempering and natural cooling process, high mechanical properties, and high toughness. The product's surface meets the strict technical standards of the US Government, general contractor BL Harbert International and main contractor Le Thy Construction Company.

It is known that to be selected for use in the US Embassy Complex project, Hoa Phat coordinated with the Group's distributor, Dat Viet Steel Joint Stock Company, and the construction contractor to carry out steps to assess production capacity and test according to strict technical requirements of the US Government.
After evaluating the capacity profile of Hoa Phat for producing high-quality ASTM A615/615M and ASTM A706/706M Grade 60 rebar, experts from the general contractor and the main contractor directly implementing the project visited and exchanged technical information at the Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel Complex for evaluation. Next, Hoa Phat produced steel samples and sent them to the Laboratory in Washington DC for testing and experimentation to obtain final approval.
Mr. Dang Viet Thanh, Head of Technology Department of Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel, said that up to now, in addition to producing and supplying special high-quality steel according to ASTM A615/615M and ASTM A706/706M Grade 60 for the US Embassy Complex Project, Hoa Phat Group has been receiving more orders for high-quality construction steel in terms of general mechanical properties, meeting the requirements of stable physical and mechanical properties with temperature.
Faced with the specific technical and quality requirements of key projects, Hoa Phat Group's technology engineers have based on the technical characteristics and quality of the products to research production and adjust factors of the production process to meet the most stringent standards according to the requirements of customers and investors.
Hoa Phat has successfully produced Grade 60 steel bars according to ASTM A615/A615M and ASTM A706/706M standards (according to US standards), affirming its position as the largest steel manufacturer in Southeast Asia. This product ensures technical requirements for stability in specific working environments. The finished steel meets the standard requirements for the lowest yield strength of 420Mpa, the lowest tensile strength of 620Mpa, especially applying the natural cooling rolling technology, without water quenching.
Before being granted the US Embassy project, the company had mastered the technology to produce untempered steel and exported it to the US, Mexico, Peru, etc., receiving very positive feedback from customers. In the domestic market, the product has been supplied to a number of projects such as Metro lines in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and many other key projects.
Currently, Hoa Phat's two Complexes in Dung Quat and Hai Duong have also researched and developed high-quality steel product lines, especially special and complex technical steel product lines such as steel coils for car tire beading, screws, welding rod cores, elevator cables, crane steel, prestressed steel, coiled ribbed steel (DBIC) according to UK BS4449 standard, steel grade B500B, 500B with UKCares certification... to meet the needs of the domestic mechanical and manufacturing support industry as well as for export.
The US Embassy Complex Project in Hanoi is built on Pham Van Bach Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi with an area of 3.2 hectares and a construction scale of 39,000 m2, starting on April 15, 2023. With a design inspired by Ha Long Bay, the new US Embassy Building is expected to be 8 stories high with a total investment of 1.2 billion USD.
