Among the 22 real estate projects that the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City has listed for valuation in the fourth quarter of 2024 and sent to the Department of Finance, the Thu Thiem Eco Smart complex (Lotte Eco Smart City) of Lotte Group (Korea) has an expected land use revenue of up to 16,000 billion VND.

With 22 real estate projects, if the valuation is completed, the expected revenue for the Ho Chi Minh City budget is about 25,483 billion VND.

Thu Thiem Eco Smart project is a project with a "huge" investment capital of up to 20,100 billion VND. On September 2, 2024, Lotte Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Lotte Eco Smart City Thu Thiem smart complex.

Lotte Group leaders said the project has a large construction scale, including hotels, residential areas, commercial areas... with the desire to bring a new look to the new urban area of ​​Thu Thiem, the new center of Ho Chi Minh City.

In 1997, Lotte Group proposed a construction plan in Thu Thiem and expected to complete project development in 2028.

According to Tuoi Tre Online 's records on the afternoon of October 23, after 2 years of leveling but no construction, the interior of the Thu Thiem Eco Smart smart complex project is still an empty lot with overgrown weeds.

Recently, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai has directed to promptly remove financial obligations to invest in the Lotte Eco Smart City Thu Thiem smart complex, thereby collecting tens of thousands of billions of VND in the budget, creating jobs for the people.

"Large projects must be removed to promote the overall progress of the projects, both to collect financial obligations and to have new investment, thereby creating jobs and other industries," said Mr. Mai.
