Project on processing and enhancing the value of longan products entered the final round of the Green Startup Competition

The project "Building a production and processing facility for agricultural products associated with developing and enhancing the value of Hung Yen longan specialties" by the group of authors Nguyen Thi My, Nguyen Thi Vui and Nguyen Thi Nhung from Hong Nam Agricultural Production, Trade and Service Cooperative (Hong Nam commune, Hung Yen city) is one of 36 ideas/projects selected for the Final round of the Competition.

The Green Startup Ideas/Project Competition – Sustainable Development 2024 (Green Startup Competition) is organized by the Center for Business Research and Enterprise Support – BSA, Vinamit Joint Stock Company, Trung Nguyen Coffee Group and the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

The competition is designed to develop young farmers’ agricultural and food industry business capabilities, strengthen the team of entrepreneurs towards green economy and sustainable development; encourage innovation of young businesses in the fields of green economy, creating social impact.

It is known that from the launch of the competition (March 2024) to the end of July 2024, the Organizing Committee received 199 startup ideas/projects from 46 provinces and cities of individuals and groups. After the evaluation process, the Jury selected 119 ideas/projects from 44 provinces and cities to participate in the semi-finals held in 3 provinces and cities: Dong Thap, Dak Lak, Hanoi.

The group of authors took souvenir photos with the Organizing Committee, the Jury and representatives of the Projects entering the Final Round of the Competition.

After the Semi-final round in 3 provinces and cities, the Organizing Committee selected 36 ideas/projects for the national final round. The final round is expected to take place in Ho Chi Minh City in November 2024.

The project “Building a production and processing facility for agricultural products associated with developing and enhancing the value of Hung Yen longan specialties” not only affirms the brand value of Hung Yen longan trees but also opens up opportunities for sustainable development for the province’s agricultural sector. This is the only project of Hung Yen participating in the Green Startup Competition with the goal of enhancing the value and competitiveness of Hung Yen longan products in the market.

The Project's products are produced in a one-way closed process in a cold room with VietGap standard input materials, applying superior electric drying technology, ensuring food hygiene and safety and meeting global HCCP standards. In particular, the Project does not only stop at developing processing technology, but also connects with eco-tourism to promote the cultural and traditional values ​​of Hung Yen, where longan trees have become a famous specialty symbol.

The project "Building an agricultural production and processing facility associated with developing and enhancing the value of Hung Yen longan specialty products" by the group of authors promises not only to enrich the green agricultural ecosystem, but also to become a typical model of green agricultural economic development associated with preserving and promoting local cultural values ​​and traditions.
