Vietnam national team won the first match of coach Troussier
In the first match under the leadership of coach Philippe Troussier, the Vietnamese team could not convincingly beat Hong Kong, who were rated lower.
The reason was that Vietnam's defense had many flaws and could not take advantage of the opportunities. However, Vietnam was awarded a controversial penalty and Ngoc Hai scored. VPF proposes regulations to prioritize the use of young players in V.League
On June 15, a workshop was held to prepare for the 2023/2024 national professional football season with the participation of 22 professional football teams of the V.League and the First Division. The new point of this season is the regulation on the number of young players registered for each team.
There are three options proposed, with option 1 requiring each team to register at least three players aged 16-20 and use at least one of them in the match.
Option 2 is that each team must use at least 2 young players from the tournament roster and 2 young players from the match registration list. The final option is that teams do not have to use young players in the match, but must register at least 3 players aged 16-20 to participate in the tournament.
Many clubs agree with this regulation, but there are also mixed opinions. The 2023/2024 season is designed to implement the plan to change the organization time frame for club tournaments in the AFC competition system.
The season starts on October 20, 2023 and ends on July 11, 2024, lasting 10 months. The National Cup has 26 participating teams and competes in a knockout format.
Chuong Thi Kieu returns, Vietnam women's team wins second friendly match in Germany
The Vietnamese women's team had their second consecutive victory during their training trip in Germany with a score of 2-0 against Schott Mainz Club.
In this match, the team deployed many young players and experimented with different positions. In the first half, Hai Yen opened the scoring for the team and in the second half, Thuy Hang scored the second goal.
Notably, center back Chuong Thi Kieu has returned to play after 9 months off to treat an injury. Previously, at the 32nd SEA Games, the coaching staff decided not to register her to play to ensure the best recovery for this player.
In the first friendly match, the women's team also won 2-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Spain beat Italy to meet Croatia in Nations League final
Spain won 2-1 against Italy in the semi-finals of the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League.
Spain took an early lead but Italy levelled the score with Immobile scoring from the penalty spot. The match was fairly even with plenty of chances created by both sides.
Joselu eventually scored the decisive goal in the 88th minute to give Spain the win and a ticket to the final against Croatia.
Coach La Fuente's team has qualified for the final of the 2022-2023 UEFA Nations League on June 19. Spain's opponent is Croatia, the team that defeated the Netherlands in the semi-finals.
