BHG - Over the years, Quang Binh district has identified key breakthroughs for socio-economic development, focusing strongly on infrastructure construction and implementing the New Rural Development program. With strong political determination, proactive and creative approaches, and the consensus of the people, this breakthrough has yielded clear achievements, contributing to changing the face of the homeland.
Foundation for sustainable development
Recognizing infrastructure as the foundation and driving force for development in various sectors, Quang Binh district has effectively utilized investment and social resources to construct projects. A flexible and decentralized mechanism has been applied, allowing communes and towns to act as project investors, thereby enhancing the initiative and responsibility of local authorities. Investment plans are well-structured and linked to the overall socio-economic development plan and urban and rural development orientation. Compensation and land clearance are prioritized, creating favorable conditions for the implementation of projects, especially key projects such as the upgrading of National Highway 279, Provincial Highway 178, and Provincial Highway 183.

During the period 2020-2025, the entire district invested in repairing and upgrading 91 irrigation works; 64 school buildings; and 19 central district roads. In addition, the district constructed 365 km of new rural roads; built 21 electricity projects; 5 community centers; 3 central commune markets; 35 bridges; and a resettlement area for flood-affected residents in Dong Tam village. These completed infrastructure projects have proven effective, facilitating production and trade, improving the quality of life for residents, and serving as a foundation for attracting investment and developing industry, commerce, and tourism in the locality.
To expedite construction progress and shorten the completion time of the remaining projects, the district Party Committee and government have regularly inspected and requested specialized agencies to closely coordinate with contractors and construction units to promptly identify difficulties and ensure the safety and quality of the projects. For example, the project to renovate and upgrade Provincial Road 183, with a total length of 36.5 km, is managed by the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction, with a total budget of over 300 billion VND. Currently, the project is in the final stages of completion, and some obstacles in construction, compensation, land clearance, and relocation of power poles are being urgently resolved. People are eagerly awaiting the completion of the road, which will provide convenient connectivity with Bac Quang and Luc Yen districts (Yen Bai province), creating momentum for regional economic development.
Rural renewal
Alongside infrastructure development, the New Rural Development Program is considered a crucial breakthrough by the district, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life for its people. Based on this, the district has proactively developed plans and mobilized the participation of the entire political system and the whole population in building new rural areas with the motto: "The people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, and the people benefit."

Thanks to the effective integration of resources and the mobilization of local people's internal strengths, the New Rural Development movement has spread increasingly strongly. Over the past five years, the district has launched and maintained the "Saturday for New Rural Development" campaign with 890 mobilization drives, attracting over 35,000 participants. Through these efforts, people have contributed nearly 60,000 man-days of labor, donated nearly 102,000 square meters of land, and provided construction materials worth over 92 billion VND. Along with state investment and the people's efforts, the district has completed 62 concrete road projects; dozens of various irrigation projects; 40 electricity projects; 17 school projects; built and upgraded 60 cultural houses; and supported 14 economic development projects. To date, 9 out of 14 communes have achieved New Rural Development standards. Many facilities serving daily life and cultural institutions have sprung up, becoming more spacious and modern.
Mr. Hau Van Lu, Secretary of the Party Branch of Na Beng village, Na Khuong commune, shared: “The village has 50 households, 100% of whom are Mong ethnic people. Implementing the policy of building new rural areas and with the spirit of "Party members lead the way, the people follow," I donated over 3,000 square meters of my family's land to expand the inter-village road, build a football field and a village cultural house. I also contributed cash to level the ground, and encouraged households to participate in the movement of donating land to open roads, collecting waste, raising livestock away from home, and maintaining environmental hygiene. The people understand the practical and long-term benefits, so they wholeheartedly agree and work together to build a more beautiful and brighter new rural area.”
The achievements in the two major breakthroughs have brought new vitality to the land and people here. This further affirms the people's trust in the leadership of the local Party committee and government to work together to build a prosperous, beautiful, and civilized Quang Binh district.
