The stage is more fun than Tet

According to SGGP Newspaper reporters, the stage performances were a great success, even exceeding the average for Tet. According to information from Idecaf Drama Theater, all performances of the program Once Upon a Time 35 at Ben Thanh Theater were sold out.

The plays at the Youth Theater - Youth Cultural House always have more than 70% ticket sales. The plays at the Small Stage 5B Drama Theater all have more than 80% audience. The children's play Dai Nao Long Cung performed on the morning of April 30 had almost full audiences. The Hong Van Drama Theater at the Ho Chi Minh City Student Cultural House also sold out during the holidays.

Carefully prepared many months in advance, the circus show Au O - Thanh Am Dau Doi is considered a "strange dish" that Phuong Nam Art Theater introduces to the city's young audience on this occasion.

The show's 8 performances attracted about 400 tickets per performance, reaching nearly 70% of the circus's seating capacity. However, this number is still lower than the unit's expectations. According to a representative of Phuong Nam Art Theater, it may be due to the long holiday, parents taking their children on long trips, so the number of audiences is not as expected. The unit is currently placing high hopes on the upcoming summer vacation, when the play will be performed more frequently.

Flip Side 7 breaks box office records

As of 1 p.m. on May 1, according to Box Office Vietnam, the film Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc had a revenue of more than 175 billion VND with 39,110 screenings and 1,967,362 tickets sold. Previously, the film also reached the revenue milestone of 100 billion VND after only 3 days of official release, breaking the record of previous films directed by Ly Hai himself. Even on April 30, the film almost reached the revenue milestone of 40 billion VND/day.

Evaluating the success of Lat mat 7: Mot giau than, critics have a common opinion, the quality of the film is the decisive factor in the revenue records. Lat mat 7: Mot giau than tells the story of a single mother, raising 5 children by herself, each child is a type of family that we can see somewhere.

The story and message about family conveyed in Lat mat 7: Mot yeu uoc is not new. Even the painful question of who is responsible when parents get old, Ly Hai does not try to answer on behalf of the audience. He lets each viewer contemplate and ask themselves.

In the film, he repeatedly tried to limit the dialogue, leaving space for the storytelling frame, giving the audience more time to ponder. This technique, combined with the creation of a genuine atmosphere from the story, setting, actors, dialogue, etc., has been effective and created a point of contact with the audience.

There are many opinions that Mrs. Hai's reluctant visits to each of her children's families are heavily arranged, always having a happy ending, even though sometimes there are details that are considered unreasonable and forced. However, the good thing about Ly Hai is that he knows how to make the audience ignore, not "look for the bad in the leaves", sympathize and forgive. This comes from the fact that throughout the 10-year journey of making the series Lat mat, Ly Hai has cleverly given a lot in return for receiving love.

Besides, interwoven with life stories, each part of the film Lat mat also does not forget to honor the cultural values and traditions of each region, where the film chooses to stop as a setting.

On the occasion of April 30 and May 1 this year, the market was almost completely devoid of famous foreign blockbusters. The most highly rated imported film, Siege: The Punisher (South Korea), despite being highly rated for its quality and featuring star Ma Dong Seok, was completely overshadowed. As of the afternoon of May 1, the film had only earned more than 16 billion VND.

Family animated films such as Fat Cat with 10 Lives, Luca’s Summer, Fat Bear Throws His Palm… also did not have breakthrough revenue. Other Vietnamese films shown during this time such as B4S: Before “Love” and The Price of Happiness were either not well received by the audience or were mired in controversy over quality.

Specifically, despite having two big screen names, Xuan Lan - Thai Hoa, the film The Price of Happiness only achieved a revenue of about 23 billion VND after more than 2 weeks of showing. Meanwhile, controversially considered the "most violent" Vietnamese 18+ film, B4S: Before "Love" only achieved about 3.7 billion VND after more than 10 days of showing.
